I don't know if this is standard on all the vtx models but I have a 1300 retro. Could you look at your brake pedal (rear) and let me know if the chrome stem that runs up to the rubber pad is bent or straight? It's about 6 inches long. Mine is bent, I may have done it during the fall but the brake still works and I flattened out the foot pad so it looks somewhat straight but I was curious about the stem. Thanks for your help.

Bill,

After I pulled the bar out (pounds chest and grunts), I looked at the brake pedal. It looked to me like it was bent.

Thanks CG, that's what mine looks like. I did bend the flat part back but I wasn't sure if the stem part was straight or bent. In the photo, it looks like it is bent alittle. You are truly a doll for taking the time to take a picture. Thanks Cheryl!

Assuming the pivot bolt that holds the brake lever on an allows it to pivot up and down is the same or similiar to the 1800, be advised that several riders have had this bolt brake while riding.

Several of us have replaced ours with Grade 8 bolts or better, for safety purposes. If your pedal was bent during a fall, it may be prudent to replace the bolt with an even stronger one than stock. They have been known to snap. At the very least, remove it and inspect it for stress fractures.

No one wants to need their brakes, and them not be there because of a .50 cent bolt. Just my .02 cents worth.

Nope, not scratched, but there is a bit of road dirt on it! Must be a camera angle thing.
