A local kenner fireman which was a friend of friend of mine was riding north on old 51 and as he got right Mittendorfs resturant an old lady heading south on old 51 turned LEFT on a 2 lane road right in front of him on his Bike ( not sure what king of bike) ..he skidded for about 30 ft and hit her side and flew off. Sorry to hear he did Die. The thing about this hwy for those that dont know it. There really isn't a lot of traffic that drives on it except for going to the resturant...

Cars or Trucks making that Dreaded Left turn into on coming traffic has to be one of the biggest killer of motorcycle riders out there. Ride safe all and keep your sences aware when around traffic in the city as well as out in the country areas.

March has been a bad month for Motorcycle fatalities around the metro area. Besides the tragic accident mentioned above, on March 11th there were two more fatalities involving motorcycles, one in the New Orleans area and the other on I-12 East of the Mandeville / Abita Springs exit. Our prayers go out to each of those riders’ families and I hope we’re spared of any further accidents…

Here is the newspaper report of the accident on clearview...

A Kenner man was killed early Thursday when he lost control of his motorcycle in Metairie, authorities said.

Richard Stroman III, 30, died at the scene from injuries he received in the crash on Clearview Parkway just south of Airline Drive, according to Trooper Omar Landrum, spokesman for Louisiana State Police Troop B.

Stroman was heading north on Clearview about 2 a.m. when he lost control of his 2001 Suzuki motorcycle near Earhart Expressway.

The bike hit the right guardrail on Clearview, throwing Stroman over the side of the overpass. He was wearing a helmet, Landrum said.

State Police said speeding appeared to be a factor in the crash.
