The Wilderness Road Chapter will be hosting a ride thru scenic Southeast Kentucky and Southwest Virginia on September 24th. All crusiers are invited to come and ride across Kentucky's highest mountain.

As the plan stands right now, the Lexington crew is meeting at the Shell station (Booneseboro exit 95) at I-75/627 @ 7:30AM. Then we roll down I-75 to meet other riders from eastern Ky at the Waffle King on US25E in Barbourville by 10am. Lunch will be at the Benham school house inn, http://www.kingdomcome.org/inn/restaurant.html and we will take a tour of the Portal 31 mine, http://www.portal31.org/ and then ride across black mountain and down into Virginia and back to the Cumberland Gap Tunnel.

This will be a LONG ride from Lexington, so plan accordingly. Roundtrip is 392 miles. C'mon....let's ride.

Not a problem Ron. We had about 40 bikes show up. And since u couldn't make it I won't rub it in or nuttin and tell u that u missed an "AWESOME" ride.....that black mountain is a definite must do in the fall too.

Maybe we'll catch up next weekend in Lexington at the All Patriots Ride.

Gmoney,

I do believe in your last photo you are standing in the exact same spot I was when I took the photo I use in my avatar. The curves are a little tight going up to the Overlook aren't they?

That is Fern Lake in the background.

No doubt about it....thats gotta be da spot. Dead on.

Yessiree. Those tight switchbacks up Pinnacle Overlook ain't no joke either. More than a few riders with us had their skills tested as I recall seeing and hearing about. Reminds me alot of a place down the road abit on HWY129. LMAO~

The VA side of the black mountain is more of the same.....asphalt surfing!
