Well, not that we have a lot of posts here in Idaho Land but I'm a firm believer of giving credit where it's due. So I'd like to see us post here about shops in the state that have served you well.

I'm from the Boise area so I'll give my $.02 on the shops here.

Legendary Customs: Fairview Avenue by Cole. A chopper shop with some of the nicest folks in town. They don't care what you ride. They welcome all riders and all bikes to their shop. Mostly they carry Harley parts but they'll order in whatever you want. These are the old Sexton boys. They'll take 15 minutes out of their day just to help find a bolt that'll tide you over. EXCELLENT guys and a very dserving shop.

Carl's Cycle Sales: On State Street: Not a bad shop. The folks are nice but they're your typical Honda dealership. They have a parts counter that usually has parts in stock. Good place to buy a bike but don't pay what they're asking. You can usually chew them down a bit.

Cycle Nuts and Bolts: On Chinden Blvd at Orchard. A Harley Shop. They're nice enough in there. The customers suck but the employees will do what they can.

Snake River Yamaha: Fairview and Eagle. A Yamie Shop. They don't tend to know much but they've got hepful folks.

Boise Cycles: On Ustick near Mitchell behind a house. A repair shop for Harleys. You can find some unique parts in there... just don't let them know you ride a Honda. Metric bikes not welcome.

Indian Motorcycle: Maple Grove near Overland. Not worth visiting unless you want a Victory or a Big Dog.

Canyon Honda: In Caldwell on a street that I can't remember. Another Honda dealer. Very knowledgeable parts counter, friendly folks. Not a lot of stock in cruisers but plenty of parts and some fast wrenches in the back.

So let's hear them. What places near you would you recommend? Any places to avoid?

Let's Ride Suzuki: This is the only local place I go. The owners are awesome and employees are super friendly. They will do what ever they can to help you out and work very well with you to get what you want for the price you need.

Cycle City: A Honda dealership that in my opinion sucks. They don't cater to the customers and lean more to ATVs and Motocross bikes. The main reason why I don't like the place is the customer service. I saw the owner chew out an employee right in front of everyone else that was there. Compliment in public; and Criticize in private. That is what I think.

Anywhere else I go like Twin Falls or Idaho Falls or Pocatello. I usually look for a Honda dealership. I know for a fact that I like the Yamaha dealership in Pocatello better than the Honda.

That is about all I know for now.

Carl's Cycle Sales has lost about $13,000 from just me. After I bought my 750 there a few years ago I was totally ignored. Went in to buy some leathers and the sales person was rolling his eyes when he thought I wasn't looking. Took a gf down to look at a 750 Vulcan and couldn't get a sales person to talk to us. finally one scribbled the asking price for it on a brochure and walked away. I only pick something up there if I can't get it anywhere else. I have only purchased minor things there since getting the 750. Ive gone through 3 new bikes since then that they lost out on, plus all the accessories I went elsewhere to buy. They suck big time.

I take all my business to Canyon Honda and have found them excellent. They take care of small problems on the spot, and give me great deals on service and parts. Super place.

I buy my bikes / snowmobiles /four wheelers from Action motor sports in Idaho Falls, because of price and then take all of my motor work to Carl's. Jack Struthers is one of the best engine builders in the north west. He just doesn't know how to charge anything less than full price on the show room floor. I purchased my first Goldwing from Carl Struthers (Jack's Dad - thus the name Carl's Cycle Sales) back in 1980. They have a GREAT shop.

I purchase all of my VTX parts from Hal now. He is clearly the cheapest option if you can wait six days for freight......

Glad to hear Carl's does quality engine work. They are going to rebuild the top end of my 02 1800C for high oil consumption/plug fouling. It only took me 3 years to get Honda to agree to the repair.

How did you pull that one off? I have been working them over for a year now and they won't budge.....

Carl's looked at my bike and saw my PC-3, airbox cutout and Roadhouse installed, reported it to the Hondas Western Regional Manager and now that the bike has been "modified" it must be the cause of all my problems. Carl's was nice enough to offer to do the rebuild but at my cost of course.

I was all set up for the rebuild in CA but was preparing to move here. Was assured the promise would carry over to Carl's.

I've always had to carry extra plugs on long trips but now need an extra quart of oil.

Looking for a good Lemon Law attorney if anyone knows of one. I would think with the shear number of complaints that someone might be interested in taking on Honda in behalf of all owners with the problem.
