I'm looking into the same thing as you.
Hopefully I can find a good mounting system and a radio I can use in multiple places.

I put my Ipod on my bike, now I have 2500 songs to listen to.. Mounts right on the strap of my windshield bag.. I would mount the XM/Sirius to the windshield, if you have one, otherwise make a bracket out of a handlebar clamp.. Easy enough to do, then just velcro the antenna to a bag, a temp job that would look fine.. Again, I would just mount the antenna to my windshield bag, no windsheild.. I would make a "L" type of bracket that would mount to a handlebar clamp, mount the head unit to the front of it and the antenna to the top...
Try this (its a crude drawing, but you should get my gist..
http://www.lemoi.com/cycles/xm-1.jpg
At the top of the handle bar mount is where the bolt is to tighten mount up, this is where you would mount the l-bracket to.. Your "L" bracket should be about 6" wide to give you enough face area for the mount.. Might need a double handle bar mount to make it real stable.. -me, I like to mount anything on my Handlebar/windshild bag.. It makes it real temp, and easily ducks into the bag on bad weather.. But if you have no windshield, this is how I would mount it..
Tony, if you wanted to come over, I can help you with this on your bike, no problem.. Let me know, and I hope this helps..

Hey, BTW, there is an acrylic place just off hanover street in Allentown, that has LOADS of knock-offs cheap, where it is easy to find a piece of mirrored plastic/acrylic that you would be able to bend into an "L" and use it as a mount.. It would then look like chrome.. Get a 1/4" peice so you have something that is stable at light speed.. Should work like a champ.. The auto bracket that Sirus and XM sells for their radio units would need to be had, so you can mount that to the L bracket, coil up the antenna wire real neat, tape that to the front side of the mount so it cannot be seen, and sneek the wire up to the top of the L bracket for your antenna head.. It would look super neat, and allow for an quick dismount with the auto mounting system..
Again, I would be more than happy to help anyone with this.. I can make a better drawing as well and post it more like a blue print when it isn't 5am..

I have a JVC Sirius setup. Just like my gun, I dont leave home without it. It came with a suction cup mount. Works GREAT! Antenna magnet mounts to the mirror top. Set ur radio to 88.1 and GO! Bought it at BestBuy

I've been on satellite for about a year now. I haven't put it on the bike yet, as I don't know what to do as far as speakers..
I can speak to content on Satellite though.. People ask me all the time about how to choose between XM or Sirius.
Primarily, if you're an NFL fan and tend to not be near your TV for the games, or if you're a fan of a team that isn't broadcast in your area, go with Sirius. Or, if you're a Howard Stern fan and think you won't be able to live without his tired old show in January, go with Sirius.
If the above doesn't apply to you, then go with XM. Oh, and even if the second one above applies, still go with XM. Seriously, once you hear Opie and Anthony, you'll never go back to Stern! I listened to Stern for 4 years before I got satellite, and can honestly say I could count on one hand the number of actual laugh out loud, beat on the steering wheel funny times on Stern. On the other hand, it's a daily occurance with Opie and Anthony..
You can get an online lineup of both services on their websites:
www.xmradio.com (http://www.xmradio.com)
www.sirius.com (http://www.sirius.com)
XM has over 5 million subscribers. Sirius has just under 2 million.
(Sirius got caught cooking the books on the number of subs recently.. They were counting units that had been produced, and sitting on dealers lots..)
XM has the NHL games. Sirius lost the contract, and won't have them next year. XM has all MLB games. XM has all the PAC-10 and Big East games.
XM gives you online feeds along with your subscription (not all channels, primarily just the music feeds, O & A (on 202) and the comedy channels).
You can sample this for 3 days for free by signing up at their website. (BTW: You can get another 3 days for each email address you have..)
Either way, once you go Satellite, I'm sure you'll never go back.. Honestly, it's the best 13.00 a month you can spend!!

I beg to differ. I've had Sirius for a year, then bought a Silverado and had XM for 3 months and I believe their is no comparison... Sirius's programing is better than XM. Sirius has NFL, College sports, NHL, is getting NASCAR, Howard Stern, and of course Jimmy Buffett. Sirius is investing a lot more money into it's programing. XM doesn't seem interested in adding channels like Sirius is constantly doing. I lost XM reception quite a bit, compared to Sirius. Sirius has better placed satellites for east coast reception. I never have any problems finding something to listen to on Sirius. I found myself constantly flipping back to Sirius, while listening to XM. Needless to say when my free 3 months ran out, I chose not to purchase the XM subscription. Not to mention I can listen to it on the computer for free, where XM charges you extra to listen to it on the computer. The only thing that XM has that Sirius doesn't is a battery powered portable player and Sirius has said that they have one in the works. The other thing that is unfortunate is the fact that GM chose to go with XM as opposed to Sirius. I say this because my truck has all the radio controls on the steering wheel and while paging through the different sources (FM, AM, CD, Tape, etc.), I have to go passed two sources that are provided for XM and I can't control my Sirius receiver from the steering wheel. In my opinion, it's a no brainer, Sirius is a better buy overall.

Good Morning Delusional..
Well, like they say, that's why they call them opinions, because everyone has them.
On the programming side:
NFL - Yup, that's why I said if you need to listen to it, go with Sirius.
NHL - This is Sirius's last year with the NHL, next year you won't get it. And currently Sirius only has like 3 channels dedicated to the NHL, XM has 6..
College Sports - XM Has it, and has channels specifically set aside for the ACC, Pac-10, Big East, etc.
Nascar - XM Has it Ther are 2 or 3 channels dedicated to Nascar.
Howard - Like I said, if you need Howard, you need Sirius.
MLB - Sirius doesn't have it. You can hear every game played on XM. (Big deal, I can't stand baseball.. hahaa)
You stated the XM charges you more to listen on the computer. Not true, it's included in your monthly subscription. (In fairness, it used to be an upcharge about 6 months ago, but XM changed their rates and included the online, as well as some previously premium channels for the base rate) The only Pay-for-Premium channel now is the Playboy Channel.
Sirius claims over 120 channels. XM has over 150.. Big deal, this gets into a pissing match.. There are tons of channels that I simply don't listen to.. ....like many of the "world music" channels and stuff.. It's just not my cup of tea..
On the reception side:
I have zero problems with reception, except one area that I routinely drive through. (It's a wierd cutout of a hill that just blocks everything XM, GPS, etc momentarily).
Additionally: XM has Terrestial antenna's in a lot of major cities, so when I arrive at work in Pittsburgh, I pop my XM out of my car and put in a boombox, and even though I don't have any windows in my office, I can listen all day long at work.. It also makes it nice because if you're driving around downtown Pittsburgh and go through one of the millions of underpasses, you don't loose any signal.
I encourage everyone to go any look up the channel lineups and make their own decision. Whatever you choose, I'm sure you'll be happy as it's SOOOOO much better than the tired old AM and FM stuff that's in your city..
See ya!
Bruce....

Got'em both XM and Sirus.. In the big truck, I couldn't go wrong for the 20-bucks a moth for the 2.. I love my NFL and my NASCAR, after 2006, I may cut the XM loose, or see what else they add on.. Bike, if anything, it is IPod..
