Presently have a Honda 1100 Shadow Spirit YR 2000. Looking for something bigger. Thinking about the Honda VTX 1800 or Suzuki C90.
Asking for comments from those who own or used to own the VTX 1800:
Likes \ Dislikes?
Good things \ Problems?
Thanks in advance.

Hey Partner; I'm military also -- Maxwell AFB. I bought a 2002 Shadow Sabre in Jan 02 and kept it for 3 1/2 years when I finally traded it in on a 2003 VTX1800 Retro in May 05. The -only- gripe I had about my Sabre was that the passenger accomodations were very, very tight when my Better Half would ride with me. So when I ran across the deal of the year on my new-in-the-crate '03 VTX, I jumped on it (both literally and figuratively). My X has spacious accomodations for the better half, more power than a sane person needs, and its a damn good looking scooter to boot. I guess bottom line is you should take an X for a test-ride and then decide if this is the bike for you. I love mine but only you will know if its right for you. Good Luck Partner. 8)

Thanks. Not hearing much good on the Suzuki board about their C90 1500. So far the VTX is ahead on research and my want list.

The hard part will be which model you want.
Would you get a C, R, S, N, or F ?

i use to ride a suzuki 800. when i up graded i was debating on ssticking with suzuki or getting a honda. One of the things i considered was this board. there is so much information and nice people here. I think these boards are more helpful than the service manuals. Plus after riding both bikes the VTX was a no brainer. It rides sooooo smooth compaired to anything i have ridden.
good luck

PS I went with the C model

Yes. You cant go wrong with the VTX, I had a suzuki 1100 for years, but it is so outclassed by the X. Plus my wife has more room and the bike acts like it doesnt care how many people are on it. Try one out you will fall in love instantly.

My choice will be decided on which 04 they give the next rebate for buyers incentive at the dealer. I think the only ones they have left are in the R class. That's fine with me.
You guys are making it hard to wait to see if they offer another incentive.
Right now they have the 04 at 10 something and think it might get a little better by the end of this coming week.
I was wondering why they would have an 04 left if it's such a great bike. The dealer said cause there's not as many guys buying that feel they are big enough to handle such a big bike.
I really liked the comment about it being so smooth a ride. Looking forward to it. I really really hope they get another incentive from Honda so I can swing it financially.
Thanks folks.

Go to the southern honda homepage and check on their 04' 1800. They had 8,883.00 on the last of the 04 in stock. Not sure what color/style?

I believe they have the C's left..don't qoute me. They are just up the road from me. I got my 2003S from them in Apr. The price is the price no haggiling or anything...when I put on a couple of accessories they gave me a small price break. They are a volume dealer but you can not beat their price.

They still had a couple 2 weeks ago. They are "C" models and mangata, I don't think I spelled that right. I got one 4 months ago and it was $8883.00 out the door plus $20.00 for out of state sale if you live out of state. They are great to deal with.
All I can say if you haven't rode one you need to and you will know why we are basis about them. I haven't experienced any problem with either my 1300 or 1800. I have 12,000 on my 05 1300 but only 1,400 on my 04 1800. I have the 1800 took apart for a project. One of the best things is you save enough on the bike you can have your personal touch.....

Before I bought my 1800s i was looking at the c90. The c90 gas tank is only a little over 3 gallons where as the x is over 5 gallons. When you start to compair the two I think you will go with the x. Watch this video.

What's this $20.00 for? I must be missing it, but can't think of any reason you should have to pay extra for buying out of your home state. You just pay their price minus tag, taxes, etc., and then license it and pay taxes when you get home.

The 20.00 is because your from out of state and won't go back for it.

It is a tennesse out of state tax. don't ask me why. My charge was $8883 out the door that included the $20 but if you have a trade in it is added to the end price. It comes out the same they just put the figures down on the paper and either you agree or you don't
When I was ther waiting on my paper work to get finished they sold 3 goldwings in about 30 min. and all three were from Flordia and they all said the saved around $3,000.00.
