i like it, its not very sporty looking and i would like to get my hands on a young guns seat. but the wifey being comfortable and keeping her happy is what matters lol. she demanded a backrest after almost falling off a couple of times and thats what she got.

I have torn apart the exhaust system and in the middle of making a dual exhaust system w/o using the saddlebags to support the exhaust. System will be designed to use HD slip ons for the mufflers.

I would be interested in the dual exhaust idea.
I have 1 mod for this winter, wave the money wand and presto, changeo a new bike.

Bill,
I should have the first bracket (mock up only) for the right side in a week or two to support the slip-on. I am now searching the web for a reasonably priced manual pipe bender & mig welder for the pipe mods.
Once I have the easy side (right) mocked up and checked all the measurements for location which should be by xmas, I will start the left side. I figure it will take all winter but hell, it is suppose to be a long one this year. I will post pics as I go.

Timber, I would be interested in taking them off your hands. But I would need to wait until after the holidays. If you still have them then, we can talk.

im bumming, my bike got stored in a warehouse and my brother in law and his friend have a key. iv been able to work on it for 1 hour since the beginning of NOV :( and hear it is almost FEB. its sitting on a lift with the handle bars resting on the gas tank becuase my speedo housing and levers have been sent to handler. kinda hard to move it when you have no handle bars to grab on too. when they do come back, its coming home.
i bought a dremel tool to polish the fins on the motor and still have to do the fat fork kit, front and rear directionals, side mount plate, triple tree covers, push and pull cables and take off my rims to get chromed.
i got about 7 weeks becuase the last 2 years in a row iv been riding by the 3rd week of march.

I might as well jump in..
New front Rubber the Metzler I took off had 20,000 miles replaced it with a metzler..
Brakes front n rear, good thing I did them there was very little pad left after 31,000 miles
Wired up the Garmin 276C GPS "So I don't get taken off Course during a ride  I used the un-used spade in the wire block under the seat I got the female end that snaps in place from Naults..
I adjusted the Valves
and Rims and other chrome and aluminum parts where attacked with some white daimond polish. Other than that it was a very easy prep season for the X..
