Do a search on Shell Rotella ( on this board ) and you will see folks have used it and do recommend it.
I've nothing but good from Shell Rotella/Synthetic.
I use Mobil1, not Amsoil and have had fabulous results on Honda Accord, VTX 1800, Honda Generators.
Buy it in the big jug, 1 gallon. There you save big dollars.
Good Luck!!!

Can you get that Shell Rotella at Walmart, or where do you get it?
Is it ok to use if the bikes still under warranty?

This was posted on the main VTXOA 1300 riders forum.
Rotella T 5W40 meets the tough API CH4 commercial rating and is approved for diesel and gasoline engines both. The additive package is second to none being designed to withstand high localized temperatures and pressures found within commercial turbo diesel applications, almost a case of overkill for our lowly VTX engines. The total base number is high meaning it buffers acids well, more good news if you do a lot of short runs like I do and don't get your engine hot enough to boil off the moisture. Don't be put off by the 5 in 5W40, the 5 means that it flows like a 5 weight at low temperature, definitely good for cold weather startups. The 40 is the viscosity at high temperatures, perfect for our VTX. Shell 5W40 is not a true PAO synthetic but is a highly refined petroleum product exhibiting an extremely high natural viscosity index. What this means to you is that it will stay in grade longer without losing viscosity as the miles accumulate. I did a lot of research on this stuff a while back and determined it was the best product for the money currently on the market.
This is just my opinion as there are a lot of other fine oils out there on the market. By the way, Shell 5W40 is non energy conserving and therefore is fully compatible with our wet clutch. Hope this helps
And yes Walmart sells it and I'm sure the warranty would not be an issue. This is one of the finest synthetics made.
