Depends on your career field, or can you stay in the same field and work from a new location? Portland has a pretty good night life but costly for housing and apartments. Traffic sucks at rush hour at times. The city is still growing pretty rapidly,so much so that people commute to there from 25-30 miles daily and have been for years. Hope this helps!

Thank you...

...actually, I can continue what I do anywhere...but am being approached about a couple opportunities in ME. I'm originally from So. Shore of MA (near the cape) and miss the ocean terribly. but I don't miss Tax-a-chusetts very much. and I hear that Maine is not much better...I might be spoiled now that I've live in NH.

didn't think the traffic would be I consideration...thanks for the heads up!

Any other imput anyone??

I just moved up to Maine recently from Cape Cod. Things are a lot cheaper up here then the Cape and I love all the roads to go riding on. I grew up on Cape Cod and it has gotten to over populated and to expensive to live there. I'm about 45 minutes north of Portland. and go down there once in a while to watch a hockey game or shopping. I have also found that I can drive 15-20 minutes and go to just about any store or restaurant that you might want. Hope this helps. :D

Speaking of NH and taxes, my father-in-law just informed me that they are considering a new one where he lives in NH. A view tax. He's a little concerned since he just built a log cabin on the high side of a mountain. Must be getting a lot of retired Mass. politicians moving up there.

I live in China now and the taxes aren't as bad as RI was. Of course Oh. was the cheapest. But I missed NE so Me. was the most affordable.
