SO I have had my VTX1300 for about4 months.....love the bike but as everyone else I have done a few mods and added toys...

Well, the pipe bug is nipping at me again.....

I am leaning towards the HK 3" pipes with baffles...I want a nice thump but not obnoxious noise.....

Anyways, I also run a K&N....so I know I will probably need to be rejetted....

Has anyone used a dyno/tuning shop around Pittsburgh? I dont want to tinker with the carb myself....I really on the bike for daily transport......

I was thinking that a good place would be a shop that deals msotly with sport bikes...they know all the tricks and how to tune the best I would guess....
and I think a dyno would be a requirement...

Anyone?

West Hills Honda out by Greater Pitt. Airport has a dyno..I have not used them as yet, but will be shortly. Talked to the guy that does it and he not only is the only one who uses it he owns it, has all the training from dynojet, etc. Washington Honda-Harley by the Meadows on 19 also has a dyno...but dont know much about them. If you come up with a another place please post. Gary

Gives Joe a call. I haven't used them yet but I did go down and visit the shop. You will need to make an appointment typically several weeks in advance as he is very busy.

West Hills and Joe's both seem like good possibilitiues....

ANy thoughts on whether using a small shop like Joe's versus a dealer is better one way or the other for a new bike like my VTX? I want to be sure warranties stay in tact....

You may want to take a listen to the HK's before you get a set, I had a set on my 1800 verry loud and not a good tone.

I know the 1800 and 1300 sound completely different ...but the loudness issue IS important to me....I am looking for something a little louder but not obnoxious.....

I thought I read that the HK 3" pipes can use different baffles to quiet it down to a nice rumble???
