Hi there,
I have a set on my 1800, they are the VTXtreme trees with the closed tops. The only thing I found is that with the stock preload the bike was very twitchy at any thing higher than say 75 mph. I increased the preload on the bearings and it made a BIG difference, it was much better. I added them over the last winter so i did not have a back to back ride but the ride was not much different from what I had remembered. I have a 240 on my bike so that may change things but all in all I am glag I did it. I am in the process of raking the neck 10* so we will see what that does. Let me know if you have specific ?'s. Oh I would recomend the Brand X tree's from HDL if availible for your bike, they use 2 bolts on each tree to clamp the fork tube instead of 1 on the VTXtreme set.

there is a pic in the Oct 31st ride to Gettysburg post under this heading, http://www.vtxoa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=104637 and some in the gallery. Mine is the gren one with all of the skulls. The twitching I mean is when you feel like at any second the bars are going to start flapping from side to side and spit you off! But remember I am talking about speeds above 70 - 75 mph. I don't think the tire size does much to change the handling but lower shocks do. I have 11 inch progressives on mine. As I said I raised the preload on the bearings and it made a world of difference, no more twitchyness ( is that a word? )
Hope that helps, have a great holiday.
Jim :D
