I've done two Border to Border/Ocean to Ocean runs, and have considered doing one more before I get to old to pull it off. Just need to figure how to get enough time and money to do it one more time. Don

I have considered that myself.
Leave Arkansas West on I-40 to the coast the up Hwy 1 to Washington.
Across the top of the country coming thru Sturgis over into Michigan to New York. Then south along the coast to Daytona Beach. Then along the Gulf coast to El Paso then up to Roswell ( always wanted to go there ) then home.. I always wake up before getting out of Arkansas <grin>
I figure it would take 45 days and $5,000.

I guess the big question for me is where do you make the Border to Border run? Do you go on the far west coast, say south of San Diego to Blaine, WA? Or maybe the far east coast, from Key West to just north of Island Falls, Maine? Or maybe even in the middle, from El Paso to Antler, ND?
Just for grins, I ran those three at Yahoo Maps for driving directions just to calculate miles.
West Coast -- San Diego to Blaine, WA -- 1381.5 miles
East Coast -- Key West to Island Falls -- 1995.9 mil
Central US -- El Paso to Antler, ND -- 1745.8 miles
Hmmm ... seems the left coast has been on one of those wacky California diets for too long. :D

It depends on where you live or where you want to start and finish. All that matters is go from Canada to Mexico and Pacific to Atlantic. I went from the north to the south and west to east, but didn't have a pre-set route. Don

I'm planning a boarder to boarder this year when we head to Sturgis. Planning to go to Mexico via I-25 then heading North to Canada then down to Sturgis. Works out to be 1500 miles BtB. Total miles will be 2250 not including the riding in Sturgis.
The Pacific to Atlantic (West/East) I thought was called a Coast to Coast not the same as Boarder to Boarder

I've ridden about a third of the I-25 route from Socorro, NM, up to Denver. I rode it in May last year, and even then it was hot. I think the temperature got up to the high-80s south of Albuquerque, and the wind was really whipping it up. Fortunately it came from the south, so by the time I had turned around and headed north toward Denver it was at my back.
The ride from Albuquerque to Santa Fe is not what I epxected. But once I hit Santa Fe it was a hoot. The interstate turns east out of Santa Fe, and as I recall we actually ended up going south a couple times. The easter hills from around Las Vegas, NM, into Trinadad, CO, were okay, but once I hit Colorado it seemed that traffic really picked up to a point that it got heavy around Colorado Springs all the way into Denver.
As for Coast to Coast ... that's a plan for the not too distant future (maybe a couple summers from now). I hope to start in San Francisco, dip my back tire in the Bay, and then head east to Americade before going on into New York. If possible, I'll dip the front tire into the Atlantic in NY or somewhere along the coast.
One thing I'm wondering, is the original trip that started all this planned in one trip; i.e., border to border and then coast to coast in one trip? If so, that's why I was commenting on where you'd do it. For me I'd want to do the SF to NY thing, and then while I'm in the east do the Maine to Key West thing.
What would be even better, if you had the time and money, is the lap around the US. San Diego to Corpus Christi to Key West to Maine to Seattle and home.

You're right about I-25 from Socorro, NM to Denver, CO. I have been on that section of the road many times. Actually I think Las Cruces to Trinadad, CO. the temp in August are going to be hot mid to high 90 ranges. So we are planning to take off early morning and coordinate our times through Alb and Denver due to traffic.

Border to Border, Ocean to Ocean is one ride Canada, Mexico, Pacific, Atlantic. I guess the Ocean to Ocean part could be called Coast to Coast, but the Song goes " Border to Border and Ocean to Ocean " Don

I don't remember the name of the song. heck, I don't remember a lot of things between 1972 and 1979. The song was about someone searching/thinking about an ex girlfriend as he crisscrossed the country. I have a lot of gaps in my past. Once went bar hopping in southwestern NY on a Thursday and woke up in Oklahoma sometime on Monday. Lived like that a good part of 6 years. Found a good woman in Arkansas that changed all that. Don

That's a Statler Brothers song called: "Do you know you are my sunshine?"
"Border to border and ocean to ocean, I still look for her everywhere..."
Great song.
