I've ridden up/down the east coast numerous times between Florida and New York State. But my longest and most interesting ride occured last summer. I rode from my home, to Americade then to Alaska and back home between June 6 through July 7. My goal was to get to Prudhoe Bay but didn't get further than a bit north of Fairbanks. A close estimate of mileage was 11,500 over 4 1/2 weeks. This included several days under severe storm conditions in Alberta, Canada and waiting for shock replacements in Fairbanks. I counted 3 days that were clear of rain over the entire trip. Worth every minute. The X was great, the progressive shocks were not!
The summer of 1995 I did 1185 miles in 23 hrs. Unfortunately I never turned in the paperwork. That ride was on a 1982 750 Virago riding between the Catskills and North Florida using the inland route. Not an iron butt but a purely sore ass. Fortunately I enjoy night riding.
