I am going to buy a new VTX1300 Retro. :D
I bought my 2002 1800C from an individual so I really don’t have any experience with the dealers in North Carolina.

My questions are.

Where did you buy your Bike?
Are you happy with Your dealer?
Who has the best deals in North Carolina?
Who gives the best Service?

I will be buying within the next month and I don’t mind traveling a little to get a really good deal.
Thanks in advance for your response.

I got my bike in Charlotte. There is a dealer in Gastonia, buthe does not seem to want to sell bikes...

Charlotte Motor-Sports treated me right, wanted the sale. It was a good experience for me, had me in and out in about 1 hour. It was raining the day I bought her, and they delivered her to my door (for a small cost), but I think that was above and beyond the call of duty.

Happy riding, Kathy

Bought mine in Forest City, NC at E & H Honda. I've bought 4 bikes from them. I'll never go back.

They think that you can't get along without them. Like they're doing you a favor just being there.

Never again... :x

i'm not sure how far your willing to drive. i looked for over 6 months( pretty anal  ) at many dealers in the s.carolina area. i called several that were pretty far away from me, to see what kind of deal they would be willing to make for me, letting them know how serious i was about buying a new bike. almost all sounded as if i was disturbing them
by calling. a few even went as far as telling me if i wanted to know, just come into the dealership.
after all was said and done, none of the dealers came close to the one we have here in town.
aiken, s.c.
aiken motorcycle sales and service. everyone that works there was very friendly, acting like I was the one who is important. they were(are) very eager to give you any and all assistance you need. i know i drove these people nuts, coming into the store many times asking many questions, and they always greeted me friendly.
when it was time to sit and negotiate, again they were not pushy, and was willing to earn my business.
when i finally said yes, it took about 45 minutes(paperwork), and only about half a day to assemble the bike outta the crate.

i am very pleased with every aspect of doing business with them. they've
even gone as far as price matching hal@HDL !

I bought mine in Asheboro after the two dealers in Raleigh proved to be either unable or unwilling to get down to business. You might also check with Steve at Excel Motorsports in Concord. He'll let you know he is the owner, but if you know your deal you can probably get it done.

My last two bikes were purchased from Schroaders Honda in Hendersonville, NC. They always keep a good selection. They are a volume dealer, so thier prices are pretty good. I got my 02 retro for $2000.00 to $3000.00 less than what four other dealers wanted. Nice friendly folks who want your buisness.

Well so far it's a tossup between the dealers in Charlotte(closer) and Hendersonville(nice ride through the mountains). They both seem to have similar prices.
Everyone has been real helpful. I think I will have my new bike before the end of April.
I sure do miss riding.

Thanks for all the replies.

Got mine at Exel Motor Sports in Concord NC. Great place and great people. Out the door price is listed on all bikes. It is an old Lowe's building that has been coverted. They sell Honda Yama and Kawa...They always at lest 200 bikes on the floor. Went in on a Friday and went back on a Saturday and they dropped the price and delivered for free.

Don't know about service yet but the store and people have been great....

Got mine from HDL for $8149 + $488 shipping.

I could have had an Orange one from High Point Honda for $8300 out the door. Great price - I just had my heart set on black.

Winston Honda has changed owners and I have had good experiences with them ever since. I get my service done there now.

Ray's Honda is Tville is great for service, but will not lower price much.

Highmiles (Jim) got his in Ashboro and has nothing but good things to say about them. If you want to checkout Ashboro, get in touch with Jim or me and get the salesman Jim worked with. Gotta be worth something.

Schroaders Honda in Hendersonville has the 1300C and 1300R listed on their web site for 8099.00 and extended warrenty for 200.00 with purchase.

I may drive over there this Saturday. I too have used Honda of Winston Salem for some service work, but have never priced a bike from him.
Maybe I'll stop by there on the way to Hendersonville.

Oh Yea, I almost forgot...Black is where it's at. :D

Those were prices from 11&12 of 2002 when I was looking.

8099 ?? Is that the out the door price?

That's pretty good.

The Retro is where it's at as well.

Although, I kinda like the looks of the Silver, too.

I'd save the 399 on the extended warranty. These bikes are solid.

riderx
04-09-2004, 03:58 PM
Yea you are right about solid..and that 399.00 could be a new Mustang seat.

But I'm a woose..I'll probably buy the warranty.

Forget the Mustang. Ultimate is the way to go.

Once you get your new retro, sit on my Ultimate and then sit on Jim's Mustang. Then choose.

I'm sure it will be the Ultimate.

I USED TO THINK THAT CHARLOTTE HONDA WAS A GOOD DEALER. BOUGHT MY 93 SHADOW FORM THEM IN 93. HAD A GOOD EXPERENCE WITH THEM. BEFORE THAT HAD AN 85 LTD WING AND HAD A LITTLE WORK DONE ON IT THEIR AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS ONE OF THE BEST. BUT WHEN I TRIED BUYING A VTX FROM THEM LAST YEAR THEY ACTED LIKE THEY COULD CARE LESS IF THEY SOLD ME ONE OR NOT. NEVER COULD GET A REALISTIC PRICE FROM THEM. THEY WANT ME TO GO AROUND AND SEE WHAT I COULD GET ELSEWHERE THEN COME BACK TO THEM AND THEY WOULD BEAT THE PRICE. YEA RIGHT, I DO ALL OF THE WORK AND THEY MAKE A SALE. TRIED TO EXPLAIN TO THE GUY ALL HE HAD TO DO WAS GIVE ME A REASONABLE PRICE AND I WAS READY TO BUY. LEFT MY NUMBER, SO THEY COULD CALL ME IF THEY EVERY WANTED TO DEAL. HAVE HAD A FEW FRIENDS GO OVER THERE IN THE LAST YEAR. ALL OF THEM GOT HOSED BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OR SALES. SO IT IS A CRAP SHOOT.
BOUGHT MY X FROM PROFORMANCE HONDA IN PINEVILLE, OVER THE PHONE IN ABOUT 4 HOURS. GOT THE BIKE THE WAY I WANTED IT PARTS INSTALLED, TAG, TAX, TILE FEES ALL INCLUDED ONE PRICE. FIRST TIME I WENT BUY WAS 3 DAYS LATER TO PICK UP THE BIKE, EASYEST BIKE OR CAR I EVER BOUGHT. ONE WARNING THOUGH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SUX. WITH A CAPITAL S. THEY INSTALLED MY HYPER CHARGER WRONG, ALSO THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO TUNE A BIKE. MINE LOST OR ATLEAST DID NOT GAIN ANY POWER WITH THE ADDTION OF VANCE AND HINES PIPES, HYPER CHARGER AND PC 111. THE STUFF I BOUGHT WITH THE BIKE THEY INSTALLED FOR FREE. I FIXED THE HYPERCHARGER THEN TOOK THE BIKE TO LEE'S PROFORMANCE IN HUNTERSVILLE TO GET IT TUNED AND GAINED 20 HP, JUST FROM GOOD WHENCHES.
THE BEST SERVICE DEPARTMENT I KNOW OF IS STATESVILLE HONDA. BUT I HAVE NOT USED THEM IN A FEW YEARS. ALSO I HEARD A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO THEY BOUGHT ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND SPLIT UP SOME OF THE GUYS TO GO OVER THERE.

GOOD LUCK WITH THE NEW BIKE
EVIL BOB

PS: CHARLOTTE HONDA FINALLY DID CALL ME ABOUT A WEEK AFTER I HAD BOUGHT THE NEW BIKE. WANTING TO KNOW IF I STILL WANTED TO BUY A BIKE? BUT STILL WOULD NOT GIVE ME A PRICE.

Best prices I have seen in North Carolina.

8,792.97 OTD with Extended waranty.

I'll buy all my add on's from Hal.

Only 8 days till I buy.

All dealers have a different way of dealing. But I can definately say that the best that I have found is the Cycle Center in Asheboro, N.C. I have bought my last 6 bikes form them and I highly recommend them. Its all the little things that they do and the way they treat you. Dave, Brent, Jeff, and Alan are all extrodinary people and very customer satisfaction oriented. Sometimes its not the price of the bike, but the qualtiy of the dealer that makes the sale. I wouldn't have gone back so many times if I didn't think this was the best place to purchase. Tell them that Perry sent you, they all know me very well. Just my .02

I am with Evil on this one. Stay away from Charlotte Honda. I have personally been hosed by there service and a good friend has been looking for a bike for weeks and they treat him like crap.

I bought my bike at Foothills Motorsports in Peidmont SC. They not only had the Candy Red one I wanted but they beat the the next lowest price (Schroeders) by $500. If you buy from SC two things to keep in mind. They cannot collect taxes for NC so the "out the door" price does NOT include taxes. It will also NOT have the inspection sticker.

We have always been treated squarely with Schroeders in Hendersonville on the phone but they did not have the bike I wanted.

I got mine at Shroaders, and I could not be more pleased with the quality of service I recieved on the3 sale. They are friendly but professional and very organized. I will be doing my own service unless it's warrenty work. I don't trust those so called Honda certified mech-niks.

Shroaders price..

Black 2004 VTX1300 8099.00
3 % Road Tax 242.97
Tag and Title 52.00
Extended War. 399.00

Out the Door 8792.97

no Dealer prep..Shipping or documentation fees..

Well, Jim will be there Sunday with his Mustang and I'll be there with the Ultimate. If you can make it.... you can test sit all you like.

This is only about 60 miles and not faster than 50 mph or so. Shouldn't be too bad without a shield.

Ray, Dan and I think Steve will be there, as well as a few others you haven't met yet.

Later........Ron

When I was looking for my bike I talked to Iron Horse in Monroe, waited on the salesman to call back and he didn't. I went to Charlotte Honda, they had the Retro in the color I wanted, I offered them $9800 cash with $1000 in free Honda stuff and they sold me the bike, done in an hour or so.

I have ordered a few parts with them and no problems, and I even had to return a few things and again no problem. I bought my warranty at Charlotte Honda, found the deal at HDl and Charlotte Honda even matched the price and gave me the difference. I have not one complaint about Charlotte Honda.
