I'm hoping to get some help from the NH VTX'ers. Once we come out of hibernation I'd like to hook up with some of you with aftermarket pipes to see and hear them up close. Been looking and the Bigshots and the Cobra slashcuts, but I hate to drop the dough sight unseen and noise unheard.
Possibility?
Thanks.

hey Dave, I am pretty close to you in Hooksett
and I run Big Shots with a modified Quiet Baffle..

I like the way it breaths, and the sound is better IMPO
no matter what you do bigshots just wont be
that quiet.. so quiet baffles is all bull ****..

Once it warms up some, I will be installing a set of Road House Slip on's. If you are interested in hearing them we can arrange a meeting place.

Probably should have mentioned I've got a 1300. I'm wondering if there'd be much difference in sound from that of the 1800? I'm glad I get to worry about this sort of thing now and again!
Dave

Looking forward to meeting you guys.

for what it's worth. I ride with 1300s & 1800s year round. Do a lot of a lot of riding at speed (70 +) Best sounding 13 I've heard has Bub Jug huggers. Loud & deep. I have an 18 with Rineharts. Plumcrazy, I stand corrected the 13 and 18 are both 52 degree motors. I was given the wrong info.

Thanks for that explanation. I didn't realize the engines differed that much.
My reason for changing pipes is aesthetic first, sound second. The factory pipes sit too high. I have tinnitus, so I'll need to baffle whatever I buy.
I like the Bub's up until the turnout at the end. I'd prefer straight tips.
I won't make a choice til I can see and hear. BTW, 6" of snow today. I can't wait to move. 1 more kid through college and it's my turn.
Take care.

As far as how they sound I keep reading on the board that it has to do with the fact that the 1300 is a single pin crank while the 1800 is a dual. I'm not much of a wrench just repeating what I've read... :? :?

Beat me to it, was going to mention that. I had the quiet baffles in my bigshots, took them out to put the stock baffles back in. To me I don't really notice much of a difference, but it was noticed when it was going by and it was louder with stock. If you want really loud, then put the thundermonster baffles in. I'm thinking with your ear problems you won't want them. My best suggestion is to run earplugs when you ride. I've been running the cheap ones and am planning on dropping the dough for the custom ones this summer. I know a bunch of the other riders wear them, for me it's not to cut down on the pipes, but the wind noise.

You mentioned cobra slip ons. Just installed mine and they sound great. Nice rumble without being obnoxious. Plus they are only 275 and look great. I live in Nashua, so if your interested let me know

I've got Cobra Speedster Longs on my 1300 now, not exactly slashcuts, but it will give you an idea.

Oops! Had a brain fart! I have a summer camp in Shapleigh, Maine on Square Pond right up 109 from Wakefield. Been eating at Poor Peoples Pub forever. That would be a good meeting place. I have in-laws on Great East that ride. Maybe we can put something together.

I live in Derry, ride a 1300R with the "quiet" baffles and have the V&H Bigshots. You really can't compare any pipes on an 1800 to the pipes on a 1300 - totally different sounds.

I like the sound of the V&H, but have a problem with the rear heat shield and will need to replace it. I also have a few scratches on my front head shield from when an SUV pulled out in front of me. The rear heat shield is $180 or so and the front $220...that is a whole new set of pipes so I am thinking of another flavor.

I may take this opportunity to put on a different set - I really like when the front pipe just goes straight back, and doesn't do that bend upwards. I want to try and keep the rumble of the V&H's though. I have been riding almost every month when the warm days come, so if you want to hear the V&H Bigshots, I can meet up with you.
