Hey guys,
Geek and I must have emailed Lamonster at the same time. Glad we got the board.
Now, I need a Fuel/Mix screw tool. I have asked at the local Dealers and nobody has one. They also don't have the Dynojet Kit. I replaced my Airbox and it needs adjusting BAD. I do not want to run her too long without adjusting. Can't wait for the tool any longer.
Anyone near Romeoville that I can borrow one please let me know. I'll drive to you.
Thanks.

Fuel/mix screw tool? You mean a long thin screwdriver? Last Honda carb I had to adjust just required removing a plug (small drill bit, drywall screw and pliers accomplished this) and a slender flat screwdriver to do the adjusting. I'm not familiar specifically with the 1300 but I wouldn't think there is a specific tool to turn the screw. Unless you are looking for a carb synchronizer? Even then, I would wait until the rejet is complete before synching them. I could be wrong though, that is known to have happened in the past.... :?

Thanks Bluto,
I looked up the actual name. I guess that would have been nice in the first place. It is a Pilot Screw Wrench. D-Type. This is the screw that is used to adjust the fuel mix. It is a specialty tool with a D shape to it. From Honda it costs $109.00. It also comes in the Dynojet Jet Kit which costs $68.00 and of course you get all of the jets and a new Jet needle.
When I changed the Air Kit, I had to replace the Main Jet. Stock has a Honda 195 Main jet and a Dynojet 210 came with the kit. What it didn't come with is the Jet Needle. So I am currently waiting for that to come with the Dynojet kit. I do not know how much difference between the two needles are.
Until the kit gets here, hopefully soon, all I need to do is make a small adjustment to the mix. Right now I can tell she is running a bit off. I will have to readjust after the needle replacement but,
I would rather adjust twice and have the bike run right in between than take the chance of causing problems by not adjusting while I wait.

check your local auto parts or speed shop. Sounds like a carb adjusting tool for a car would work.

Ahhhh! Things are a little clearer now! LOL! The new needle has a more of a severe taper to it. This means, as the needle lifts to allow more fuel to flow out of the main jet, it doesn't have to move as far to maximize fuel flow. The kit will also require you to either drill the vacuum hole larger or come with a different spring. I'm not sure which will come with the 1300 kit. Have you tried going to ACE or Home Depot and buying some metal rod and grinding it down to make your own tool? Wouldn't be that difficult. Just cut it to length and put a bend on one end to help in turning it and make it easier to see how far you are moving the screw. Most of the Honda carbs I have worked on only have about 4 turns of thread on that screw. Of course, the other Honda's only needed a flat screwdriver too so yours is probably different. Good Luck!

I do not know if the kit comes with a new spring. I do know that the retainer for the spring on the needle is adjustable so this may be how it accomplishes this. Other posts say 3rd from the top as the position.
I thought about making my own tool.
The prob is this. Hopefully I will draw a good pic for you. The end of the screw housing is a hollow hole with a D shaped solid center piece, the actual screw. So.... the tool actually fits inside the screw housing and around the D shape screw. I'm ok at "field expiedient" things but I'm not that good :P It is also too small for my thinnest needle nose pliars to fit around without causing damage.
As far as the threads, I do not know how many it has but the factory setting is about 2 3/8 turns out from being lightly seated at the bottom and the Rejet posts I have read say 2 1/2 turns up to possibly 3 depending on the Jet size. It came with the 210 so I am thinking about just a little over 2 1/2.
By the time I complete this process I should know my carb pretty good. 8)
Next will be exhaust. Now that I have more inhale, I will need more exhale. But that will come a little later.
I had said to myself that I wanted to learn how to work on my own bike......I'm having fun either way.
Thanks again.

Hey Thanks for the offer Mike.
My kit came in yesterday through my personal Tucker Rocky Rep (My brother) and I was able to adjust it. I am now just waiting for the weekend so I can replace the needle and spring.
