Tejas,
Thanks very much for posting this information. Sent a fax this morning for the 'upgrade' DVD. So far I have been very pleased with the iWay500 and with Lowrance. My primary reasons for purchasing their product was based on all the positive feedback from user testimonials (like yours). They seem to stand behind their products and this 'free' upgrade is an example of that. I also like the fact that you get a 'complete' system right out of the box. It came with all mounting HW and I also like the fact that all maps and POIs are already on the device. I did buy the additional 'metal' Ram ball mount ($8) to replace the plastic quick release one supplied just as a precaution.
Thanks again for posting this info!

Yeah, especially since the Lowrance website does not mention the update is no charge for new units http://www.lowrance.com/
Thanks Tejas

motoman and Monty, y'all are very welcome. I was just trying to help since I knew quite a few out here had bought a unit recently based on what a few of us had said about this gps.
Just doing my small part to help others out around.

Ok here's an update on the new software for the IWAY.
I finally got my DVD in. It took 78 minutes to upload the new POI data to the GPS. After uploading the data you have to reboot your GPS. Once rebooted the GPS loads the new data. It took 90 minutes to load the update once rebooted.
My recommendation is do this on a day you have some time and do not need the GPS for an extended time. I am getting a bit curious to see what changes I find in the data and if the time wait has been worth it.
