I do them here and there, in fact I am doin mine this week. I was takin my X to Naults Manchester Shawn Menard is a real good with the X's but they also
get a good $$ to do the work.

I am also pretty a very regular customer at Laconia / Hooksett Power Sports.. although I use Hooksett for my service as there techs are very good. but thats on the snowmobiles..

I can work on a contact there for you if you'd like and see what that gets you
other than a cup of coffee :D

thanx for the reply roger...i'm in fla. til mid april...very interested in learning how to do my own....i used to do my honda 750 k5 but i hear the horror show from the tech. board about the rear valves...not much room and tie a string on the wrench so you don't lose it, etc...... if i could seee it done ..i'd be more comfortable doin it...maybe we could have a tech session this spring for some non-wrenchers like me to learn more about our xxxx's.......jim

Hey Boys

got the valves done this mornin, rear tire off with the hub bearing checkout ok.. wanted to get the bearings changed but the rear tire has a short 3 to 4 K on it "maybe less  " so I will plan for the new bearings at next rear rubber swap, rear tire back on with moly 60 grease on the splines, front and rear brakes are done, I am glad I did them 32000 on the beast and there was .013 - .015 left on the pads both front and rears.. never would passed inspection. drained the hub oil, gona pick up some moly and mix it with the Mobil 1 rear gear juice. new plugs will go in once I get it fired back up.. short list of stuff left.. gps wires, and reassembly of the tank with quick connect and misc chrome to be cleaned and re-mounted..
then the full fluff n buff..

I did a good 4 hours of labor with the valves, tire work with bearing inspection, brakes I had pretty much wrapped up last night just need to assemble the rear once the rubber went back on, the 4hrs was with the tank and misc parts already off..

Roger, it would be awesome if you could help some of us weak wrenchers out. I would love to be in on a little workshop. I live in Allenstown and would appreciate any help. I would like to know about replacing cables, valve adjuctments, anything. I know that cable replacement doesn't sound too difficult, but being able to replace a clutch cable on the road is critical.
Thanks again.
Mike

A tech day is a something we can definatley do. once the consistent weather
shows up, I think that will be something we can all learn from, I am no Pro Wrench by any stretch of the imagination, but I did stay at the Holiday inn last night :P I do have lots of hours doing work on cars sleds, sled motors and my own X as well as a few other NH X riders X's, sleds are my speciality
and Love workin on things mechanical..

Tech Day thread Good idea leon.. lets start a tech day post.. I think Mid-late April would work. I can drop my bike lift off, and see what we can do about getting another 1 or 2 lifts for the day.
