Kat,

I'm so sorry to hear the bad news. I feel your pain. I was unemployed for 4 months, about a year ago. It's tough to deal with.

Come on down and ride with us Saturday.

all day long over this. Unsure if there is any need in trying to sleep. Life sure does get tedious at times.

I have to write a few letters to the powers that be at the City of Gastonia, but that I can do tomorrow.

Thanks for your replies. Sorry to be such a cry-baby. We are one of those families that are one paycheck away...you know the drill. Kat

Kat,

Sorry to hear your news.

I've been 'displaced' (PC term) a few times. I've kept my head up and a positive attitude and have gotten a better job every time.

Come ride with us on Saturday. It'll take your mind off the job for a few hours and I'll buy you lunch.

What a great bunch of guys you all are, and I really look forward to meeting my new "extended family". Thank you so much for being so kind to me. You have all touched my heart, and I am greatful. Kat, I too lost my job recently  . It sucks  . I know how you feel. and they say the economy is getting better :? ! Where? I just had a new set of Avons installed and paid for..... whewww! At least I can get some hwy therapy. If this had happened a little earlier, I'd be out of a job and unable to ride! People have been institutionalized for less. My wife is very supportive and employed :) . I'm thinking about you and I would appreciate you doing the same for me.
.....and as for Poop.... I don't think anyone on this board would object ,(given the circumstances) to the use of a stronger expression like......
......... Big O'l fat POOPY! Smile it has to get better for us.

Michael, thanks so much for all of your kind words. i have been having a very difficult time of it, and it certainly helps that there are those like you out there to put things into perspective. I know we will both be gainfully employed soon, and if not, well, we can always RIDE,RIDE,RIDE! Thanks again, Kathy

04-13-2004, 06:11 PM
exactly what kind of work do you do, kat?

katwoman
04-13-2004, 08:38 PM
Well, I was a bus driver for the City of Gastonia, before that, I was a chapel secretary for a funeral home in Florida, and before thatI was a bus driver for the City of St. Petersburg, Florida. Before that I drove truck...ewwww, did not like the truck driving thing. I am good at whatever I set my mind to.

I feel for ya'! September 13th, ya' know? Two days after 9/11? My internet firm cut all but the two founding employees. What a shocker that was. I was out of a job for a full year. Actually the job was probably the easiest thing that year. I lost a great motorsports business, a wife and a 9-month old house in the process!

Anyway, pound the want ads, you'll be back!!!

katwoman

I will be working inthe corporate offices of Family Dollar, as a maintenance assistant. This is receiving calls from over 6000 stores nationwide with maintenance issues. I will be entering these calls into the data base, contacting vendors, and keeping the store managers up to date as to the status of their repairs. I will also be filing, typing, faxing and whatever else needs doing. It is funny, I put it into God's hands, and told Him that His will be done. In all of the resumes I sent out, I had one call, one interview, and one job offer. I guess He told me, huh? Faith realy can move mountains.

When are we gonna ride?

Congrats Kat,

I told ya to keep a positive attitude and it would work out.
Having God on your side doesn't hurt either.

Best of luck in the new job. I hope they treat you better (more fairly) than the last one.

Ray and Dan are coming up from Concord and Kannapolis on 5/23 for a charity ride out of Lexington. It would be great if you could join us too.

There were only 2 VTXs on this ride last year (Dentkicker & me). This year: Dentkicker, riderX, Ray, Eppdog, you? & me and probably some others I am forgetting.

Darrell & Craig will also be there on their Kaws and Wally on his Valk.

At one point last year all the Harley guys were circled around my bike. (I was at the registration table). When I walked back toward the bike, I saw all these guys (& gals) around my bike. I thought it had fallen over or something. But No. They weren't sure what it was at first, then they wanted to know where I got my bags, highway bars, etc. It was pretty cool. And when they heard it cost half as much as their HDs - Wow - that's when some hung their heads and walked away.

Did you order your Ultimate yet??

Are you going to work in the Matthews office?

Hi Bob,

Yes, I am going to work in the Corporate HQ in Matthews. Not really such a bad commute from here. 85 to Brookshire all the way out to Sardis, and then to Monroe. Took me 30 minutes yesterday, but I think I will allow myself 1 hour, since I start at 9. (except next week, when I start at 8:30)

9 to 6 Monday through Friday, one hour lunch, and all of the weekend riding time I could ask for! Life is sweet, ain't it?

You are like family, too. I am more relieved than words can say.

Keep in touch, huh? Lets ride sometime, Kathy

I used to commute from gastonia to charlotte
It can be tough
You need to set up a couple of alternate routes
ie 74 wiggle down to 485
or 77 to tyvolia to monre rd.

Hey Kat, Great news. I've been watching your post to see how things were going. What a relief, huh? I'm still out of work so don't give up on me. As you know Murphy's law kicks in "hard" for some of us. I blew out my knee and had surgery last week. So,... out of work and no riding for 6 weeks. Sux don't it? Well I'm :D for you.

You'll be up and around in no time!
