I'm also interested in checking out mods and riding gear that the "old timer" owners are using.

Guys that are going to be pulling the bikes apart for tech day, you may want to think about "up to you" gettin the quick disconnects for the hoses to the tank, they will make life much easier, as well if you were thinking about loosing the smog crap pick up the block off plates.. before the tech day..

not saying we couldn't do more tech days.. if you gona pullem apart, putem back together so life is easier to pullem apart again with less agg!!

I'm not going to be able to make this one. I'm getting all my parts back from chrome/polishing earlier that week and hope to spend that entire weekend putting it all back together.

Something to think about though, Some of these guys that are looking to do valves are going to be SOL unless they can get their bikes there on Friday?

Leon, Is it possible to open up the shop to park some bikes friday night so that engine will be cooled down enough to do valves? Probably more of a pita and insurance reasons, but ????

If my parts don't come in, I'll head over to lend a hand, not that I know a whole lot. But I've done all of the maintenance crap several times and can always pick up a few new tips.

I agree with ya Nate. Motors need to be stone cold!! for a valve adjustment.

Something to think about.. or we get there earlyin the moroning and let them go cold.. pullem apart and go for breakfast..

Also, regardless of which day --- what time were you thinking about? early early works good for me, so I can get a few other things done later in the day. Either way, really grateful for you organizing this, this is great stuff. Thx.

Hey Roger,
Appears that there is some confusion on what weekend. Leon said the second Saturday in April. The second Saturday/weekend in April is the 8th. I asked this question about what weekend early on in the tech post, but didn't really get an answer. I've marked my calendar for the 8th; I hope I've got it right otherwise I'am screwed. Any info would really help.
Thanks,

I can make it on the 15th, really look forward to it. Thanks! I've done the valves once with Roger but I'm really a newbie and the valves are really chatty, to the point that I hear them above my V&H bigshots. :(

Hi guys,

Assuming it's still on, I'll be there on the 15th assuming it's in the AM. Thanks for the opportunity, this is a great value to folks with average-at-best wrenching skills (like me) that are looking to learn.

Since we're on the subject of 'what did you do over the winter' -- I just added the kury lighted spark plug covers this weekend. ok ok ok so it wasn't officially over the winter. Getting it all hooked up was really easy but figuring out the best place to route the wires and still have enough length of wire to mount the switch in a good spot was very challenging. I ended up lifting up the tank and running some across the top of the frame --- I couldn't find any realistic way to mount the switch on top of the side cover without doing so. Also, with a stock seat, there doesn't really seem to be enough room to get the switch on top of the stock side cover without it getting pinched a bit --- the room between the top of the side cover and bottom of the seat is a little tight for the switch box. I put it there anyway, hopefully it won't end up damaging the box or the leads that protrude out of it, which are unfortunately at the top end of the back of the switch box, hence getting pushed on a little bit by the seat.

Timber - if you need them done, let me know - i'm down there most of the week anyway. I could be persuaded to help you one night - get done at 8pm. They aren't that hard, tight fit, but still not that hard, just did them with my buddies bike thats in the basement. Are you running the caps, capping everything off after the hyper install? Is the smog stuff still there, because you might as well remove it while doing it.

BTW - i'm looking at the 15th, maybe will be able to make the voyage south.

Mother nature definitively did not cooperate this year. Only went out 4 times, twice twin Mt & twice Coleman State Park. A total of 450 miles. Coleman was real good, a 3-hour trailer run. Lets see how the weather goes for this summer.

Hi guys,

It was great meeting all of you last Saturday. A huge thanks to VTXnNH for opening up the shop and sharing the expertise. And an extra huge thanks for him for helping me get my bike back together when they day ran on and the missus started calling with threats. :) :)

re: my valves, I can still hear mine and they seem fairly loud, but instead of one valve being SUPER loud (like it was before), now I have multiple valves that each make some noise (none seem as loud as the one that was way out of adj before we did the work). I suppose that's they way they're supposed to be, right? Completely quiet = bad.

Hey VTXnNH, I'll try and head back from work via 93 one day this week and let you check out the mirrors.... let me know if any particular day works well for you.

Mixed news -- my oldest (8 years old) has started to play football (yay!) but his practices on tuesday mean that I need to drive straight from work and meet my wife there and then bring my son back home === no riding the bike to work on Tuesdays. Today is Tuesday. It's beautiful out, of course.

No offense folks, but I'm hoping for crappy weather each Tuesday. :) :) :)
