I hear it's a good one, but I use the Garmin 2610 and love it.

I hate the Tom Tom commercials. Some annoying chick going "Doug Doug, How do I go ...."
I'd have her out of the car and served with divorce papers before she could say "Bye Bye"

I have the Garmin Quest 2. Big enough to read, small enough to remove and stick it in a cell phone holder on your belt and it's waterproof. Works for me

Garmin Legend Cx. No power supply considerations (batteries), switch between bike and car. Have a RAM mount for the bike, windshield suction cup mount for the cars. When I'm off the bike, I just slip it in my pocket. As long as my 63-year old eyes can see the screen, I'll hang on to this one.

Just ordered the Lawrence Iway 500c and it's supposed to be here Tuesday. I'll let you know what I think.

2610 why?
It is a couple of year old technology but uses current software.... maps etc. But won't display current weather info..... but that requires an expensive subscription.
Waterproof
Has an SD card rather than a hard drive... better on a bike cuz it stands up to vibration ask the people with hard drives how it's going for them. Iway 500 for example.
I can be bought for less than half than the best price on the tom tom rider. Look for one that is reconditioned.... new case, new display, new warranty. Can be bought for a little over $400.
Talks to you... can be piped into your intercom and into your helmet.
I bought mine off Ubid for $406. plus $8 shipping... $414.

I haven't heard anything negative about the Iway 500c. I've researched it and even read up on it on the GL1800 web site and they seemed to have good things to say. The only negative I heard was don't use it on a off road motorcycle or ATV as there is a problem with the bouncing and the hard drive. A cruiser has a much smoother ride.

Maybe you should change the thread title to "TOM TOM GPS Opinion". Otherwise you will continue to get repsonses about garmins or lowrance's!

I have a Tom Tom 300 GO and it works fine. It's not waterproof so I must
take it off or put a baggie over it in the rain.
I would love to have the Rider but a little too pricey for me as I am a part
time GPS user.

If you like the TomTom RIDER, wait and check out the Garmin c550. Same thing, but the traffic receiver is integrated and its SirfSTARIII chipset makes it much more sensitive than other GPS Units.
Its coming out in June, and Im going to be putting in my pre-order here shortly.

Do any of these work as dual purpose?
I want a hand held GPS I can use on bike, as well as in the truck, as well as mark the flag positions on the golf course so I always have the exact yardage to the pin from wherever the ball lies.
Can any of these do this?

What do you think about the TomTom rider GPS
Well thunderone, since you have got zero comments about what you actually asked, I'll try. I have the Rider and I love it. Yes it is alittle expensive but I decided thats the one I wanted and do not regret that decision. Its works great, if you miss a turn for some reason, it re-calulates in about three seconds. I like the blue tooth as well. Super quick to program POI or whatever you need.

The only thing I did not like about the Tom Tom was the price. I got the iWay 500c and love it (~$500 after rebate). No map loading or card swapping and it has 10 GB of storage space for MP3's!!! Yeah - it's an MP3 player too!
As DevilDogger mentioned - it also recalculates missed turns very fast. The best feature I like on the iWay is the large screen (about twice the size of most) and the touchscreen works easily and reliably with my big fat-fingered Tourmaster winter gloves.
