Okay time is getting short, we be needing some details, I say we need some details! :)
Where is our cheerless, I mean fearless leader? Is the plan to ride down on May 19th, stay overnight, ride locally on Saturday the 20th and ride home on the 21st?
Its 400 miles one way for me, so darn near a full day just to get there. We need the plan (cough - racer - cough).

Hey Woot, I was thinking the same thing...ride down Friday the 19th and spend the night locally. As I recall there are a couple of hotels at the US231 exit off I-64. If you're interested in sharing a room let me know.
Termite
racer04
05-03-2006, 08:19 PM
Hahahahahaha, had ya all in suspense ...didn't I? And I am fearless, hell, I been married three times....nuff said
The trip will be similar to last years fall trip in that Matt and Karen have graciously agreeded to have a cook out at their home Friday evening...The 19th. And aswas the case last year, those wishing to camp in their back yard (I think its like 3 acres) are welcome to pitch a tent and stay. Some may want to bring sleeping bags and crash on the basement(finished) floor. Ask longnight, or eye in the sky, the accomadations are fine. They stayed their last year.
The actual ride itself will commence Saturday morning at 10:00 A M. with departure from the Waffle House in New Albany. Those coming down sat morning , it's just off theI-64 New Albany exit at (?) mile marker...I'll have to look at the sign in the morning on my way to work...see what it sez.
We'll head out I-64 east, and not to worry...I'll lead. I'll take us all the way in. Their will be various stops along the way to rest a bit, get gas, fill our tanks, etc. When we arrive in Stanton Kentucky we'll go directly to the Abner motel and check in. Y'all need to go ahead and get your reservstions now...like $48.00 a night. Abner's Motel, 606-663-4379 or 606-663-5384, mention you are with the V T X group.
From there we will have different rides to go on to see some of the most beautiful sights ever seen. Bring hiking shoes, cameras, and maybe even the binoculars (sp).
This is always a fun and beautiful trip, and with luck, we'll catch the Roderdendrons in bloom...beautiful!!
Sunday morning we'll ride around the gorge and head over to Natural Bridge. Where for the small sum of $7.00 you can ride a sky train (cable car) up the side of a mountain to see the natural bridge. Again beautiful. fron there we will go to the lodge for Sunday dinner and then were headed home. This was a wonderful trip last year with lotta different people coming along at different parts of the weekend. All had a wonderful time.
So , there it is the details......... C'mon, lets ride!!
Big DAve is considering coming along with his wife...they will be driving the cage, and hes not gonna be doing alot of walking. But we did go look at a 2006 Yamaha 1100 Sliverado this afternoon. Sweet, and I get my ridin partner back.

This just to second Racer's Friday night plans.
There will be the SECOND ANUAL PRE-GORGE "COOK-OUT GORGE" OK maybe not a gorge but we'll have a fire and some eats, so come on down and save yourself some riding time Saturday and join us for an old fashion bon-fire.
Bring a tent or bring a sleeping bag and crash on the floor.
For those needing directions send me an email or pm.

Seriously, the two hotel phone numbers you gave are separate places. The 5384 number (Lil Abner) doesn't have a clue about this group. The right number to call is the Abner Motel in Stanton, KY, 606-663-4379
Is this a trick to keep the Okie from showing up??
Matt, I'll be attending the cookout (Racer didn't make that up too did he??) but I'll be staying at the Baymont in Corydon so you won't need to cook my breakfast.

Doesn't really matter to me.... As easy to get there as anywhere else... only adds about a half hour and provides less opportunity for a certain person to get lost.....

If you're talking about the route that the Lexington Southern Cruisers (G$) take you might mean HWY 52 which is very twisty and brings you into the Gorge from the South. The time I rode that route with them they left from the Cracker Barrel on Winchester Road and rode Winchester East....
Thanks for the correction on the Abners Number..... I wondered why Racer would be staying at Abners Aisan Day Spa????? But what the heck..

It'll be highway 15, off I-64 at Winchester
We'll have to thank George $ for the info on the route across eastern Ky.
He took the time to research to roads and sent the route to me.. A fellow V T X rider helping another. I asked for info and he came through.

Racer: Please forgive me if my previous post was offensive in any way... I routinely read the KY board since I live here and noticed that when G$ posted his route to the Gorge he may have mistyped a couple of route numbers because it appeared to have a couple of typos.
Since I have ridden this route with them in the past, when I read your post above:OK, OK, I give up on this side trip thingy!!, Dammit!
I will be going stright across I-64 to the bert t combs parkway...which I will pick up in...lookin at atlas.... just east of Winchester, hwy 402 it sez

and supposed that it didn't make much sense to you as well.. I was just trying to suggest an alternate way to get to Gmoney's route. Please accept my apologies if my post was offensive in any way. Unfortunately it's very east to be misunderstood on a message board.
