I need to mount a Garmin Quest GPS on my VTX1800S. What is the difference in the Ram mount and the handlebar mount that Garmin sells? Any help is appreciated.

I am also looking at mounts for the Quest, from what I have seen the ram mount offers more positioning options than the handlebar mount.
(I'm not sure I like all the looks of it) The handlebar mount looks to be the same as the AC charger piece with out the cord and adds a loop on the back for the bar. (smaller) And there also is a motorcycle mount that hardwires to the bike, it isn't made to mount to the bar without the ram setup tho I beileve it could be done. ( leaning towards this one) JM$.02

With the RAM system, you ca swap out your GPS mount and throw a digital camera mount on there and take some nice pictures of your ride 8)

Ram is a much better system. Goes on and off in seconds, and when off all there is, is a small clamp with a 3/4" ball on it.

Like Spike said, you can mount a GPS, then a camera, then a cell phone holder or any two or three things depending on your set-up
There is a R.A.M. mount designed for nearly any type of appilcation. I have mounts for cameras, drink cups, my Veypor2 to name a few.

Go with the ram mount. Much better in looks and quality over Quests plastic mount.

Well I don't have that Garmin model but I do have a Garmin and for me the handlebar mount didn't put the unit at a good enough angle to see the GPS clearly. The RAM mount let's you put it at whatever angle you would like. RAM mounts are great. We have them for our Chatterbox GMRS X-1's also.

I too use a RAM mount. I use it for my satellite radio. Not only does it offer unlimited angles, but it eliminates any vibration from the ride as well!
