check sig VTX retro

Can't you ride with anyone who isn't on a VTX?

Interesting question there Bill. You know me, I ride with just about anybody. It matters little to me what brand or model they ride. I ride with a few groups as well. The New England Riders (NER), Shadow riders, even some from totalcycle (all brands represented). Of course you already knew that.

I just found it curious that the State Coordinator for the Mass VTX Riders doesn't actually ride a VTX anymore. Arent you also the State coordinator for the Star riders or something too?

Hey it's great to see you guys actually participating on this board instead of the constant barage of spamming, promoting, and advertizing of the massvtxrider site. It makes me wonder why there is another site. Keep up the posts! :D

No sour grapes over there that I've seen.............

Of course not. If it doesn't fit the paradigm of manufacturing verbal sunshine Bill deletes it. Seriously Judith, how long do you think a post like yours would last over there if I had posted it? Hell, if I have the letters N, E, and R show up in the same post I recieve threats from brother Bill after he deletes it. Not very friendly at all if you ask me. It's entirely possible that you are not aware of that but I doubt it.

That reminds me of the folks that rode with the massvtxriders in western mass. last year complaining that you were going 25 over the limit. Doesn't sound too safe to me. I seem to recall those posts mysteriously disappearing as well.

For what it's worth, you and Bill have posted here lately more than over at massvtxriders. You certainly don't bother to post these rides on the New Hampshire board. That is a puzzlement. So is the fact that you are a Yammie rider posting on a vtxrider forum trying to stir the pot. Perhaps you are just being a troll.

Don't Forget Daytona next year too !!!

Sour Grapes everywhere. Makes for bad whine

>>>>> They're a friendly bunch. I call them friends. <<<<<

I met many friends on the MA VTX site. And they will always be my friends, if I ride with them or not. If there is someone you don't like, just don't talk to them.

I went on a great ride this weekend. Hondas, Harley, and a Kawasaki. If you like to ride, you ride with the people you like, that is all.

...there is usually no "discussion" on this board at all. I'd be hard pressed to call anything posted here by *any* VTX member as "spamming" or even less appropriate, "advertising"......

Quality not quantity. This board is what it is, a place to chat freely. If you look on the other board most of the posts are the same few people. This is the only place around where NE VTX's can speak freely without censorship.

And I guess, in answer to the quesiton about why there is another site....it's because it was there before this particular board was...and also because judging by the growing list of members, most people seem to feel more comfortable with a local grass roots approach.

Um... this board exists mainly because the MA VTX Riders forum up here was hijacked by untruthful posts stating that it had been moved to MassVtxRiders.com. Once everyone was redirected over there thinking it was the same board in a new place it became a place where you could be content that if did anything but giggle your post would be removed and you would be reprimanded. Many wandered away quietly others less quietly.

Or...here's an idea....it's because over there, on that other board, (www.nevtxriders.com (http://www.nevtxriders.com))...well, to be blunt, Bill has done a fabulous job of leading efforts in both building a great web site, with John's help...and mostly because THEY HAVE RIDES!
:0

It's a very pretty board and there are some good posts there. Just don't ask where the rides will take you as you are not priviledged to know. Don't mention anything without asking the grand wizard either. I find it amazingly crass that someone who shouted foul at the mere mention of NER on that board would be such a spam monster over here. It's just a tad hypocritical but I won't mention it.

Hi John, I've been quiet lately but I gotta chime in....

I would not call it spamming, nor is it intendend to be promoting or advertizing of the site, only of the pending ride in the area. Don't know how anyone could find offense in that??!!!

How different is it than me asking if anyone is going to the Rendezvous blessing or Hondo mentioning NER to a guy looking for a local ride on YOUR site? We can't nor would delete 'your' posts here but on 'your' site you have to ask kneel in front of the alter and ask the OWNER if you can post something.

The other site is operated locally for the specific area and contains a signifigant number of other resources than just the forum, and as mentioned above was created prior to this local board. Folks should always feel welcome to participate.

As I mentioned a couple posts back... the original VTXOA/MA VTX Riders forum was hijacked by MassVtxRiders. Many people went under the false impression that it was the same thing in a fancy new wrapper (and a damn nice wrapper it is by the way... kudos to your hard work John). If the forum had 'remained' on HDL sponsored site then speech would have remained free, once it moved the OWNER invoked censorship and it was all 'your' way or the highway.

Cheers
Dave

all of you WHO WANT TO RIDE.

This is a discussion forum and serves pretty well for that! There are other forums for rides... did I mention NER?

No sour grapes over there that I've seen.............

Uhm... no... they were deleted... it's called censorship.

This actually makes me giggle....Let's all sit down and try to figure out why nobody comes over here to post....hmmmm....could it be that it's just not all that friendly unless you're talking to the folks from the nevtxriders group?
Well, geez, maybe that's it......

Um... take a look at the other forums up here... this site does pretty well for where it sits and the price. Take a look over at your site and see how many authors there really are... most of the posts are created by a couple people with a lot of time on their hands.

Your site is a great place for followers though!

hhahahahhahahah

what is the sound of one hand clapping?

You make it easy to imagine why some of your posts might have been deleted, that's for sure.

If ya gotta imagine then you weren't there... I was. So was Larry and a few other's who show more restraint than me by ignoring these posts. You comment on much that you are ignorant of.

Don't remember seeing you on a ride, ever. If this is the way you treat those you haven't met, I guess I can figure out why you're not out riding.

I'll speak first person here: I prefer to go on rides where I am allowed some knowledge of the route and don't have to swear allegiance to the Great and Benevolant anyone. As for riding in general you'd realize Hondo's bike is under spring repair status (getting ready for a Smokies trip if I recall correctly).

And agan, for those of you who would like to RIDE and don't care if someone else in the group is riding a Yamaha, come on over to www.nevtxriders.com (http://www.nevtxriders.com). Over there, we ride motorcycles. We dont' ride the couch. We don't crash, we don't do peel outs, we DO obey speed limits...[/b]

New England Riders! New England Riders! New England Riders! New England Riders! New England Riders! :-)

You pick an ironic topic to carp about, Hondo. I'll let Bll decide on his own if he wants to tell his story about speed limits, but you've sure set him up for it.

Oh, Hondo didn't need to do that!

But then, I was an English major, so maybe me and my dictionary take all things literally.....

....We actually dropped the www.massvtxriders.com (http://www.massvtxriders.com) name well over a year ago, though we still have a domain holder and point in place in case someone uses that URL....

I can see History wasn't a strength of yours Judi. According to this post http://www.vtxoa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=96527 Bill's site went live with the new name on or about September 12, 2005. Where I come from that doesn't qualify as a year. What do I know? I'm just an Engineer.

The New England VTX Riders board went live May 31, 2005. Do the math or wasn't that your subject either?

We have told you about this many times, we pay for the site for our club and events.

Yep, you mentioned that.

That's why we are here and at NER, they are for the people by the people for all intents and purposes. No need to ask permission, just don't use bad words or be hurtful.

Agreed. There was just a lot of misinformation being spread about former dealings and as much as I refrained earlier I was bothered that it went unchallenged so I let myself get "sucked in".

Part of the point in the matter was that this board does not really need a pointer to every single ride on a privately owned club's board and that is what is currently happening. I ride a lot with New England Riders and could just as easily post every ride from that site here but that is not what this board is for.

This forum "VTXOA/New England VTX Riders" predates and is IN NO WAY affiliated with NeVtxRiders.com.

Thanks for making my point so eloquently. If it is a privately sponsored club which is sponsored by another cycle shop then it shouldn't spam on a list maintained by a competing and very generous cycle shop who provides THIS forum. That would seem just plain wrong to me.

Hello,
This is exactly the kinda of pointless arguementative thread that makes any forum undesirable. Most all forums have rules either posted or implied, I know that Lamont has them for these forums as well. There have been many posts deleted and folks memberships deleted here. If you ask Bob , the NERds have the same basic expectations on there forum as we do on the NEVTXRIDERS.COM site(orginally MAVTXRIDERS.COM registered in early 2004, new site with forums in September 2004). Clearly folks disagree on many points, with no clear hope of any common understanding, making this thread pointless and distasteful. I have asked most of our members who participated, to self sensor their posts in this thread and discontinue. I am sorry that there is some bitterness, whatever the reasons maybe. It's too bad that sometimes good people just can't seem to be able to let things go come to a mutual understanding(no particular individuals intented by that).

Let's just agree to disagree and enjoy riding on our motorcycles,
Best Regards,
John
