Just wondering if you all can give me an idea what the weather will be like if i bring the bike up in the beginning of Sept for a few weeks. Living in Fla but grew up in CT and haven't ridden the Northeast in about 15 years. Do I need the heavy leathers? and any good places to ride or see while I'm up there. Thanks for any input.

The leathers depends on the weather. Tell me where you are staying and I can send you lots of rides.

Patriot,
That time of year can have wide temperature swings of 40's in the morning to 80-90's in the afternoon. After the sun goes down so does the thermometer. I guess you need to be prepared is what I am saying. Since you have been transplanted much further south for a number of years I would imagine that anything below 65 would be cold for you. :D
That is an excellent time of year to travel in Vermont, western MA and northern CT. Later in the month is great to shoot out to the Cape after the beachgoers have packed it up for the season.

Sept 30th all New England ride
In CT ther is agroup that rides almost every weekend
I will send you some other stuff too
Make sure you have rain gear too. September in New England is known for pop up showers with the changing temps. I used to live in Hamden years ago, and I beleive one of our riders by the handle DonJulio does.

Not sure what other groups you are affiliated with. I am certain that there are several chapters of the Souther Cruisers in and around New England. I can point you to a few other riding groups. Lemmeno :D

Don Julio is a very cool guy, great riding partner....sure hope you make time for a ride with our group, too....schedule us in...www.nevtxriders.com.
My idea of what best to wear in New England in the fall: Heated Gerbings. Unplug during the day when you really only need a windbreaker, plug them in when you get a chill. They won't electrocute you in the rain, either.

Nahhh...you dont need any electrics. Just ask any NERd (Non-Electric Riding Dude).
Hey Roadstargal...what kinda VTX do you ride?

It's not up to you to decide if one needs Gerbings. He asked for opinions. I offered mine.
I ride a 2002 Yamaha RoadStar, that's 1600cc, loud, ridden well, ridden long, a few scrapes on the floorboards, averaging well over 10000 miles per season. And for all the miles, there were even more smiles.
Gotta love riding!!! And that's why I love the Gerbings. In December when everyone else is riding the couch, I'm riding my bike. Of course, living on the south shore helps, we don't usually get as much snow as some other parts of the state, so there's usually less road sand, etc.
This winter was a blessing, wasn't it? I didn't go more than two weeks at a time without riding! All in all, I'd say early September is my favorite time to ride, though...and no, I don't usually pull out the Gerbings, being a little cold makes you feel alive...but for overnight trips, it sure makes the packing a little easier...no need for layers.

I wasn't sure why you didn't get the answer from my signature about what i rode, I couldn't see it at first, but there it is, right out there for all the world to see. Guess you just overlooked it? Oh well, you got my long winded reply, anyhow, just cause ya asked....
Have a nice night, Hondo!
