    Default License Plate Light Removal

I am trying to remove the license plate light from my 1300C. I have taken the housing and everything off, except there is 1 wire in the back of the light that runs directly into the center of the light and I cannot get it out. I really do not want to cut it, any ideas?

Are you just trying to replace the bulb, or remove the whole thing from the bike?

To replace the bulb, here's what the Service Manual says:

Remove the bolt and bulb socket cover from the rear fender.
Turn the socket counterclockwise and remove it.
Pull the license light bulb out of the socket and replace it with a new one.

Looking at the diagram, the bolt is installed pointing down, with the hex head at the top of the bulb housing.

I am removing the entire light from the bike. On the back of the light there are two wires, one has a plug on it and the other goes into the center of the light socket. Is there a way to remove the socket and/or wire without cutting it?

CUT IT. No other choice. If you ever go back to using the stock setup, that's what solder and shrink wrap are for.

OK guys thanks for the help.

But, I have another question. I bought a license plate frame that has a brake light and license light, however it only has two wires. The instructions state "Wire one each to your brake and tail lamp circuits or together for an extra bright stop or running light or use your imagination."

    Any advice?

What about the ground wire that was hooked up to the old license plate light, where should I hook it up?

What colors are the wires? I think it may be: hook up either the brake or the lamp light. Or together for an extra bright stop or running light.

I don't know why it would only have two wires???? Is their any type of tab for mounting the ground???

No there is no tab for mounting the ground. This unit has both a brake light and also the license plate light, each light has one wire. Not sure what the heck to do with the ground, I am really stumped.

Thanx again for the link! Did the mod today. I think the look is much improved. This Signal Dynamics plate frame has an LED run/brake light in it as well.

I did it this way. No drilling or cutting, just a Radiantz bracket and solder.
