That picture looks photoshopped to me. I would like to see it on a bike other than cropped. The intake looks like it would hit the fender on a turn, or maybe not. If it is real, that bugger would be pretty fast.

There's a guy over on the Cafe also that is doing turbo + nitrous, thinks he is going to top 300 Hp. I'm thinking the 90* power take off forward of the driveshaft is gonna give up the ghost on that one pretty quickly.

That's gonna be a HUGE shot of nitros then. There is a guy in our Texas group who built his own turbo kits for 2 of his 1800s. I have ridden the first one he did. It IS a blast. I had a straight open road to test it out on, and it was incredibly aggressive compared to a normal 1800. At 130, under full throttle, the front end was so light it was uncomfortable.

I believe his bike was pushing 140-150HP, if I remember correctly.

I think he said something about 18 PSI? Dunno if the 1800 motor can stand up to those pressures for long, though.

I believe Bigdog (the guy I was speaking of) blew up his second 1800 at the Texas Mile running 11 or 12 pounds of boost. When I rode his other one, I believe it was running either 6 or 8 pounds.

    A few posts below that:

Thanks to all for the great comments. I must say I have seen a lot of beautiful bikes on this site. I have run the bike at the track in 2008 with only the nitrous set-up. Here in Albuquerque at 5000 feet I have run consistent 11.6 to 11.8 ET's. That was with a wheel dyno of 168 foot pounds and 165 HP. 50HP shot (est). nitrous. I had a injection issue last year after the install of the Turbo. The stock MAP sensor was maxed out. That has been resolved with a 3-BAR GM map. The current set up is 18 lbs of boost. EST. HP is 245 at the rear wheel. We are working on the nitrous timing. As of the last few test runs when the nitrous kicks in at 4500 RPM the front wheel pulls off the ground violently. We are down to getting the right jetting for the nitrous and also a fuel cut under nitrous for the quick shifter. The Dyno boys are EST. 290 to 315 Ft LBS using the gas. I will have photos and a 1/4 ET with video early summer. Right now we are trying to keep it from bucking me off when the gas hits. Updates soon!

    18lbs..

cant see it happening as set up. Id sooner believe boost creep in the waste gate than an actual 18 psi manifold pressure. also I don't think there's much of a plenum there, a v twin exhaust is anything but smooth and the exhaust pulsing would give problems without some thing to settle that down

Had a buddy in the biz that put a Mr Turbo turbo kit on an old 1979 Kaw 900 for a customer. It was crazy to ride if you really got on it you could feel the pegs move under your feet from the frame twisting. I think turbos are going to come back into favor on vehicles. You can get a 4cyl add a turbo and get good gas mileage and power when needed. 1988 thunderbird turbo coupe was a fun car that got over 20mpg in the city.

Default Nice work fitting it all and attacking the heating probs.

I noticed it looks like the clearance to lean it over is limited or does the photo just seem that way. Does 87 octane still work ?

I would be extremely disappointed if I was only getting 11.6 to 11.8 times with all that time and money invested. There are a couple of guys in our Texas group that have consistently gotten 12.2 to 12.4 with their 1800s, and both of them have just the regular upgrades (pipes, air kit), and I believe one of them doesn't even have a Power Commander on hs bike. I know .4 of a second is alot of time at the track, but I'd want to be down in the 10s after putting the turbo on. I'd need to smoke people...not just barely beat them.

Figured I'd dig this thread back up.

Bigdog over on the Texas site is selling his Turbo 1800. Anybody SERIOUSLY looking should give him a shout.
