    Default Thinking of selling

    I'm thinking about selling my 2006 VTX 1800c Spec2 with 7K miles.

What do you guys think I can get for it?

A quick check of eBay shows very few similar bikes but here is a 2006 F

3 bids up to $3,050 but the buy it now price is $9,200. A very big difference.

A quick survey suggest that anything with an asking price of over $6K is not getting bids.

Buddy of mine just sold his 2007 1800C for $7500 with a lot more miles on it than yours.

    That's figging insane.
    A 2006 that has 6,000 miles on it with a Buy-It-Now price of $9,200
    You can get a brand new 2008 for $8400 ! ! !

The last time I saw Brand New 2006 VTX 1800's was last year and they were going for around $7,200.

    A used 2006 today. realistically $6,000 - $7,000 ( based on dealers offering $4,500 - $5,200 for them in trade )

Last years prices have little bearing on todays' market. There appears to be a trend of RISING prices due to the old supply and demand cycles, no pun intended. As the supply of solid, used late model VTX's dries up, the prices have slowly risen and in some parts of the country, it's a seller's market. A price of $9200 might seem a bit high, but there may be 3k worth of extras. Just sayin.

Man this makes me feel great about mine. I paid 7K for mine two years ago, already customized with 20K miles. I have 47K miles on it now and could probably still get around $5500 - $6000 from what I've seen on Craigslist.
Well ... I must be off!

kbb has trade-in at 4920 and retail at 7130 for a 2006 1800C. You could probably get near the higher range if you have very low miles (less than 1000 miles). Anything higher mileage-wise and you're looking at midway between kbb values, so I would say you can get around 6000-6300 if it's a clean bike. Advertise a few hundred bucks above what you expect to get, and let them negotiate you down a bit.

One recommendation would be to pull off any aftermarket parts and replace the bike to stock condition if you can. With this market, you're probably not going to get a significant return on aftermarket parts unless you piece them out individually.

    Just my 2 cents.

Has anyone ever bought a bike from KBB, or sold one to KBB?
There's a lot of VTX's out there right now. Lot's of brand new 2007's and 2008's, and maybe a few 2006's left around somewhere. I've seen more VTX's " on the market " in several venues this year then last. Seems like people are selling them to move on. As far as " a few thousand " in extras, in order for them to have value you have to find a buyer who wants " those " extras. If I was selling a VTX today and wanted to maximize the money I got, I would strip off the extras, put the stock parts back on ( yes I keep all stock parts I remove ). Sell the stock bike, they sell off the extras to someone who wants them.

about 40% of what you paid for it is what you can expect to sell it for. Sad really one of the best bikes available but just has no resale. Good luck.

    Default Dealers

I called a couple dealerships and they offered ~$5,500 for trade-in. I expected more. Well I guess now I won't be getting a gsxr.

    Where are you located?

    That's good money for trade-in.
