I'm looking at the Kuryakyn Lazer/bullet driving lights on my 2004 1300C. I've already run the required wiring/relay and switch but now I'm trying to figure out a way to mount these things without a light bar. I can't get a bar to fit with my Memphis Shades windshield. I've heard about the extended fender bolts and P clamps. I'm considering taking flat bar stock steel and making brackets that come off of the bolts on either side of the headlight. Does everyone use a $400.00 light bar or is there a less expensive way to accomplish this?:dontknow:
I use the "top mount bracket" in my headlight setup. either from kury or kewlmetal, cant remember which:banghead: kury I think. However I have an extension involved. I changed it up a bit this year different from the pic reversing the brackets but same triangle.
I got to say that these lights hugely improved my visibilty to other cars out there, no more scary side street taxi stops,:yikes:. Got all the info from this site and others, design and built it, a unique custom mod!!!:tools:
Wife has a 1300S with fairing. I installed her driving lamps on the turn signal bar. A couple hardware store u-bolts with plastic tubing insulating them from the chrome and bolt them on under the headlamp. easy. Jetsam
Very nice looking choices. I was afraid that putting them under the bucket wouldn't give your forks enough clearance but that looks great! I like the foot peg option too.
I mounted mine on the lower left side off the front peg mounting bolt. I only used one light so that when meeting traffic they see something not balanced lightwise and it seems to get their attention.
I just removed my light bar from my R and intalled a set of Kury constellations from a C. Those were make to clamp onto the forks, is that part of your problem that you can't mount to your forks because of the MS.
I made brackets out of stainless, wet sanded them to look like chrome, just trying to give you some ideas.
I mounted them to the MS lowers. Yes I know it is in need of a bath, been doing a lot to the bike.
i've had mine under the triple tree for 2 yrs and have never had them close to hitting my fender. just used the bracketts that came with the lights . they mounted nice and snugg up under the tree. but then again i also have 2 inch fork extensions
no it was a really easy way to mount them there is already 2 bolts runnin thru the trees just removed the nuts and bolted the bracketts that came with the lights right up . and as far as the lights hitting the fender i figured that if my front forks were that compressed i would probably be in trouble any way . as in a crash or something.
I've got a C model, and had those same lights mounted where texasmike has them. Hit the fender, dented it up, and destroyed the lights. That was on a bone-stock suspension. Just barely hit it, so with his 2" extensions it's fine but if you don't have that I'd advise against putting them there...
