    Default Stallion Trike....

Saw one of these at the local gas station a few minutes ago. Didn't have my camera, so here's a link. Anyone have any experience with one? Looks like it would be a blast to "ride". (has a steering wheel, so I am not sure if ride is the appropriate word....)

I saw one of these at the Olympia thunder run a couple months ago. Pretty ugly looking IMO.

Calling it a motorcycle is insulting to any actual motorcycle

I've seen one once. My wife has a trike, a real trike, but these Stallions are not my thing what-so-ever. The one I saw had a Ford Focus engine!!! Whooptido, that'll chirp the tires!

    Default hmmm.....

The dealer where I bought my Wing sells em and we have chatted about them a bit. He said the engine is 155 hp Ford in line 4 with the Ford tranny. He also said it is surprisingly quick and it handles great. The lady that owns the lumber yard here has one and it looks pretty cool to me? This gal would never get on a motorcycle but she loves her trike. I fail to see where the word "motor" cycle implies how many wheels it has? Maybe a Uni cycle or a twin cycle or a tri cycle or a quad track or a duelie or an 18 wheeler all relate something but I just don't get anything out of motor cycle except it has a motor? Prolly be lots more gas and parking if there were more of those gizmo's on the road? I'm thinking that someone is currently working on making a top or a roof for that and then all ya need are snow tires and yer good to go year round.

I test rode/drove one in Daytona- it was cool. Different but cool. Mine didn't have seatbelts, DID have air, auto, CC, the area around the foot pedals was alittle "breezy", and I imagine your feet would have gotten wet if it was raining. 32K for a 'wing trike or one of these is a tossup.

there was one at the ford dealership in Joplin Mo. a couple of months ago. i saw them in pictures and was interested in seeing them close up. NOT IMPRESSED. it was ugly and look very cheap. the red paint was nice, but chipping in weird places.

just didn't like it, especially for the 30,000 new price tag?? what?

Not for me, it does look fugly from the front and sides, the back is just OK, looks kinda like the wing trike.

Hmmm, car engine, trans, tires and steering...to me that says car.

    Steering wheels are for cars...

    Default Stallion

A friend of mine just bought a 2009 with a trailer for $28000.00 and is tickled to death with it. They come with a 155 hp 4 cylinder ford motor and auto tranny. There's a chip available that adds another 35 hp. A/c and heater is available as an option. The motor is packed in front and the radiator is in back. I think they are built in Troup Texas and The Trike Shop handles them (I think). They seem to be extremely stable and run very good.

not for me. saw one in person at QSL. Had heat and AC.

about the price of a well equipped hd trike or gw trike, but I think it has about 150 hp?

    too carlike for me.

But if it keeps some folks on the road like the "normal" trikes.

    good for them.

    Default well.........

I don't care for the Stallion myself as of yet but, I don't care for any of the trikes either. All I'm saying is if people like it then cool, it seems to be pretty well designed and appointed with some things for cruising that none of my bikes have? Back in the early sixties when I was 13 some friends and I mounted steering wheels from the junk yard on our Stingray bicycles. That caught on and for a year or two there were a lot of bikes with steering wheels on them.

Point is someone decided to make a machine that would afford people who may not be or never have been a motorcyclist, a vehicle that would get them in the wind? Nice thing about that is when the legislation comes down that will effect us all then we may have some folks to vote in favor of motorcycling in general. Like I said the lady here who has the ear of local politicians rides one.

They are built by Motortrike. I was at their plant when my wife's trike was being built and got to look at a few. While I like their trike kits, the Stallions are but ugly IMO and don't even have decent trunk space.

In reference to the post someone made about the paint chipping in weird places, that is definitely not Motortrike's strong point. I was so disappointed with their paint on the first trike we got, that when we had another one built I got it painted locally. The paint is always the first thing I look at when I see a Motortrike, usually lots of orange peel and light spots. All their other workmanship is spot on, but their in-house painter should be fired.
