SR170 Poland to Calcutta

This route was chosen as one of the top 15 MC roads in the country. I'm talkin same list as the Dragon, BRP, PCH, etc. Personally, never heard of it + neither have any of my biker buddies. Anyone ever run this?

I never ran it before but plan on checking it out this summer.

Well gimme a shout when yah go Hounddog. I could meet you around Cambridge + we could run across 22 to 7 + up. Ever been to the MC Memorial Wall? That's right off 22 in Hopedale, worth a visit if yah never been.

Not bad either, also SR 39 out of Carollton down through Atwood lake into your part of the woods is a good ride!! We otta hook up for some ridin' this summer. The wife just got a new bike of her own(no more 2up!!!) so school is in session!!! Also, SR 534 north to Geneva is cool!!!

I'm 5 miles from Atwood Lake right on SR800 one mile north of Dover Dam. Congrats to your wife, I like seein a woman ride her own scoot. I'm always up for a ride, give me a shout anytime.

SR 170 is a real nice ride lots of hills and twisties. I ride it all the time, the wife is not crazy about it because I light that stretch of road up. I live in the Calcutta area. I also want to make it to the wall in Hopedale this year. You guys should check out thebikersite.com. Most of the people in there are from Ohio and it is more about the riders than the bike. Lots of rally info in there and have met a lot of great people on that site.

Luther57, I see you are from Salem. We hit the bike night at BB Rooners sometimes. We ride in out Rt 45 which is another nice stretch of road. Clevelandrocks, I was through New Philly on the way back from the Easyriders bike show a few weeks ago. The wife wanted to go to Sugar creek. We drove 39 from New Philly back to Wellsville, That seems like it would be a nice bike ride also.

Yeah, I've riden 39 many times both east to Wellsville + west to Mohican State Park. Not many bad roads out this way, SR800 south to SR26 into Marietta remains one of my favs. Lots of wooden covered bridges on 26 + Marietta is just beaming with history. I'll check out that other site, THANX!

Hey Cleveland, know right where you are. Grew up in Minerva, and did a lot of work down in that area. Wow, a Tusky Valley boy!

Luther57, will do. We sometimes go to QSL in Austintown, ride all the way up 46 another nice ride. If you guys do that 170 ride let me know and I will try to fit it in.

Route 170 and route 164 are my favorite rides. Route 170 has lots of curves but sometime the traffic is heavy. Route 164 from Lisbon to Leesville is a nice scenic ride with little traffic and good roads.

Yeah, 164 is great, but I miss that one curve everytime goin from Leesville. I think it's Bergoltz, 90 right turn + I end up in the alley everytime.

Surprised you Ohio folks aren't mentioning the Triple Nickel.

Makes the Dragon look like an intro to riding course. Only things I didnt like about it was some of the turns were not banked well, or they were sparper than anticipated without warning, and gravel seemed Fairly frequent from driveways/shoulder run-offs.

Definetly in my top 5 favorite roads.

When I ran 555 early last year there was a road closing next week sign posted. It should be better now, but I haven't ran it recently so not sure.

You gotta be kiddin me? Whoever voted for that route never been on PCH, BRP, The Dragon, or my driveway. Did the entire thing around 55, never even downshifted. Forget everything north of E. Palestine. First few miles south the road is VERY distressed but gets good afterwards. Several twisties, but no switchbacks. SR39 home was a much better ride.
