    Default Sidestand Question

Several days ago my sidestand pivot, which is usually pretty stiff, got really, really easy. Not loose reaaly - there's no wobble in the stand but no resistance whatsoever lowering or raising. Coincidentally, the sidestand safety feature quit working - the motor will run when the bike is in gear with the stand down.

    Anybody ever have this happen?

    Thanks!

Thanks for the links to manuals! Really my question is: can a failed side-stand safety switch make the stand move more freely, and is there any urgency to replacing the switch? Is the side-stand reliable?

    Thanks again for your thoughts.

Is the spring still attached? I am assuming it is or it wouldn't stay up.

The part of the switch that rotates with the kickstand in under the top piece. Does everything look like it should. Maybe the switch parts got in a bind and broke in the KS up position. Starting in gear without the clutch pulled in may be a less than exciting ride... When mine gets difficult to put down I lubricate.

Take a good look at your switch, probably broken..
