Difference between a "C" and an "R" / "S"

Today I picked up my first VTX1300 "C"

Have owned an "S" and an "R" and also an 1800N

So, you've ridden one VTX, you've ridden them all, right?

No.

This one seems much more "nimble" and also seems a lot lighter. It's a freaking blast to ride.

Who knew?

S and R are the same, but S has spoke wheels with tubes, and R has mag wheels. C models have shorter fenders, some different variations on accessories (buddy of mine has a C and the riser/bar config is different and more chopper like) and a larger front tire. S and R front tire is a 140/80/17 (its either 70 or 80, cant remember), and C front tire is a 110/90/10. That means the C tire is thinner, and taller, so its going to handle differently. Ive found that, between my bike and my buddies, that while his FEELS more nimble, that when you ride them hard, mine actually handles better, presumably due to having more rubber on the road. His has better clearance on the pegs than I do on the floorboards, but it just feels unstable with that skinny tire when you really lean it over hard in a corner. That being said, he has the stock dunlops on it still, so that could be part of the problem.

R same as but with cast wheels/rims
C Cast wheels no floorboards and bob fenders.

Yeah, I know the differences in configurations.... but ... never having ridden a "C" model, I just assumed that they all drove and handled the same. That was my point.


And, besides - YELLOW is the fastest color !

You've been mislead. It's a cruel joke. Black is not the fastest color. It's the STEALTH color (but only at night)

Here's a good picture of a 1300 R that turned into a very rare 1300 X. It has fenders almost like the Neo, but predates it by 2 years.

Blue is the fastest while silver is the most nimble. I took the best of both worlds

Dont let anyone tell ya different, Yellow is the best color. Its faster, nimbler, and it stands out the most . Seriously, thats a great looking scoot. I have the a yellow C and it looks even better without any emblems at all and a 4" black vinyl racing stripe down the center from tip to tail. Take some advice, get some Kury Iso pegs on there. I have the small ISO pegs and my feet thank me on every ride.
