Bearing Condition: Removed rear wheel to install aftermarket tire and 1300 Final Drive. Bearings, shavings and metal were found stuck to the Moly paste in the small gap between Flange splines and Final Drive splines. If there's also a plastic dust seal in the unit, it disintegrated... No damage to splines on either unit, just a little wear at the edges of the taper before splines begin. WHEW!!

How fixed: VTX DR in WA state (Jon's1800VTXC) rebuilt it to his specs and installed.

Additional remarks: Obtained the bike in spring of 2010 and have been going through the bike ever since to fix and replace whatever I can find. Safety first, cosmetics after!

Bearings both destroyed. Was looking for a vibration throughout the entire bike and i just happened to check the bearings when i had the rear wheel off.

Bike has 9500 miles on it.

Replaced with all balls aftermarket bearing kit myself.

03 VTX 1800 C Flange bearing replaced on 02-11-2012, 35,200 miles. Also, modifications were done to increase bore of flange, and to spacer to decrease OD, and collar of spacer to decrease length, makinf the spacer flush with the bearings. Also, a washer of about the same thickness removed was added between spacer and wheel bearing to compensate for the material remove from the spacer collar.

"Stealers" aint getting my money!

year 2003 discovered may 2012 47000 miles metal shards from flange bearing contaminated wheel bearings requiring their replacement. metal shards also discovered in teeth of the drive splines. discovered during tire replacement

Additional Remarks: Traded my "S" wheels for a set of "R" wheels. I believe the R wheels had about 16000+ miles on them, not sure what year.

Bearing No. 2 YEAH NO.2 Purchased : 4-2012
installed in "R" wheel, after the end of the season about 3000 miles on the bearing set put the bike up for the winter. While I removed the wheel for polishing I found NO bearing two races a few ball-bearings and some other junk. Bearing purchased from Honda Corp. Junk.
