I was on another site and a glove question was posted for cold weather.
MY post was, I take a winter trip most every yr, to Janesville WI from FL, was born and raised there. You ever heard of mittens?, instead of gloves? Ya have to have a gal that sews or learn to sew your self. For this kind of temp you have to make the mittens to your own specs., for the( temature) you ride in. Use the new style long under ware material ( its thin and warm ), make them long enough to fit a ways up over your outer wear. coat etc. Make a thumb as on gloves. Keep( layering )the material for what U need, and be sure there flexible to use the controls. Outer layer the mitten with a air tight, water proof leather, or equivalent material. Now your 4 fingers will keep all your fingers warm because of no finger spacers as in gloves, if your thumb gets cold, slip it back in with your fingers. Problem solved Jim

If you check Direct Line Parts, they may be selling a set of
what Vetter used to call Hippo Hands. These are mittens that fasten to your handlebars. They have tough Cordura nylon or canvas and sometimes a waterproof coating to keep the wind and rain off your hands, plus a fleece interior to keep your hands warm. If Direct Line Parts does not sell them, you can find them at a place that sells 4WD ATVs. Or in a sporting goods catalog from a place that sells 4WD ATV accessories. With Hippo Hands on your handlebars you can wear thinner gloves for better feel of the switches and control levers. Hippo Hands allow me to extend my riding season a couple of months, until the snow starts falling and sticking.

I used to ride my bike to school year round back in college. I wore a set of gloves under a set of snowmobile mittens. worked great.

Back in a previous life I only had a motorcycle to ride everywhere I went, summer and winter. There was not the selection of winter gear that we have today, but I bought a pair of leather, fleece lined gauntlet mittens from a motorcycle accessory shop. When I got back into riding, I looked for some mittens at a couple of places and got the impression that the current prevailing feeling is that real bilkers don't wear mittens. That is a shame, since mittens are vastly superior to gloves in keeping your hands warm. Sure wish I had kept the pair that I had......
