Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the site.

Now on the cheaper parts check classifieds here for them and ask about brands on the board. You may find in some cases that cheaper means you got screwed. Here are a few things you may want to know and some links.

Mechanically on the bike is the valves. They were supposed to be checked at 800 miles and again at 8000 miles then I think every 8000 after that. If you are a do it yourselfer look here

http://www.vtxoa.com/forums/showthread.php?t=206315

A time consuming mod that could be a winter project if the previous owner did not do it is painting the engine and polishing fins (I will do this in the winter myself) here is a link to that

http://www.vtxoa.com/forums/showthread.php?t=218085

Most people only get 5 years from the factory battery which means if yours has not been changed that time could be coming up.

Bringing us to the battery if the seat pin mod has not been done you will want to do that but you can use a smaller detent pin and not drill out weld nuts. That information along with others can be found here just scroll down the left hand side.

http://www.bareasschoppers.com/

You may decide depending on what seat came with yours about seat positions and there is a lot of debate between Ultimate and Mustang with these two it is like people who love Fords and hate Chevrolet. A cheaper alternative that everyone agrees on is Mean City Cycles and you can find info on them here

http://www.meancitycycles.com/

I will go for now, keep the shiny side up!
