I am a die hard VTX guy, but I often see a lot of hate mongering aimed at those who choose HD's, just wondering why so much hate? I ride with those who have chosen all kinds of manufacturers, they often envy my bike, but I can also appreciate some of theirs, and when riding, the goal is to keep the rubber between me and the road.
Overall , we are still a fraternity of like minded and free spirited people, all of us. Whats the deal?

It's because harleys suck, but some of these guys feel the need to constantly brag about them.

IMO, if you buy a HD then hang out but don't rub my nose in it. I have a Dyna Low Rider that is fast and nice and been very reliable. I'll even defend HD to some extent. But, I don't come onto a Honda board and talk about my Dyna

It's not a hate of Harley or those here that have switched to or added a Harley to their stable. I think most of us agree that we should ride what we like and like what we ride.... but have some consideration and not try to throw Harley up to the pedestal and belittle the Honda (VTX) on a Honda message board..... and do it repeatedly. I think most of the animosity is for those that can't stop bringing up Harley on this Honda board. I have posted a link to what Harley www.hdforms.com does when you brag about your Honda on their message board.... they don't like it and they do something about it... lock the thread, delete the thread or ban you from posting.

I keep waiting for BigKahunaAvatars.com to come online so we can purchase some of these pics!
On the ongoing Honda vs. Harley front, when I meet up (on bikes or not) with another rider, I proudly tell them my bike is a VTX. Bikes are a personal choice and people ride what they like. Later on I may like a Victory Vision or maybe even a Harley, but right now I like my VTX just fine, thank you! Later, U-Turn

A lot of hate mongering??!! kinda exaggerating aren't ya? I can't speak for others. My brothers ALL chose and ride harleys and I love every one of them. I also know there is NO WAY IN HELL any of them would post about their harleys on a honda board. ![]() Or post on a honda board at all. ![]() ain't happening. Just like there is NO WAY IN HELL I would post about my VTX on a harley board. why should I?? Common courtesy. ![]() respect for the forum community. what a concept. Buy a harley, a victory, a suzuki? Who cares? Choose whatever ya want. Just don't tell me how great your "new" bike is or how bad our VTXs are. Doing that on a VTXOA board -- might be considered trolling by some and might be met with some flames. a few of us are actually attached to our VTX. you would think an hd guy would understand that bond. maybe not. this whole topic is getting stale and my ignore list is getting pretty long.

And in the motorcycling world at large, you can add BMW or Ducati to the list... you'll find among (non-cruiser) riders the same contempt exists to a point... It all comes down to being snubbed at some point (usually based on nothing more than $$ cost)... I've never been verbally attacked for my choice of ride by anyone other than an HD rider... That said... Some of the nicest Riders I met and rode with were on HD's, hell one of them was even the local HOG captain/admiral/whatever. You can't judge every rider by what they ride... But stereotypes do come from somewhere... I wouldn't worry it too much, as long as you recognize the stereotype is yours (mine, his, hers) and dismiss it as such before making contact with a rider whom you havn't met yet... And then if their an as$hat, just dismiss them as such... If Honda's were the only 'real motorcycle', then I guarantee you'd see a lot more As$hats on them as well... Just Sayin'

if we spent more time riding we would be better off lol it seems you "yanks" no offence intended, are really hung up on HD riders! My father in law rides a HD and we frequent the dealership for hog roasts etc and i love the place but i dont ride a HD i also dont get any grief from HD riders in the end us cruiser boys stick together in the UK as we are a minority

I also think you shouldn't plaster the VTX board with HD posts, but I see nothing wrong with telling us about your new toy when you first get it. I ride my HD much more than my VTX, but I don't really mention it much here. I think when I first got it, I made a post about it on the LA board and that was it. I've met dickheads on all types of bikes. All I can say is the bike doesn't make the person. Who cares what someone else is spending their money on? Y'all sound like a bunch of women.

It's called the Condition-Human. The world is FULL of insecure, small-minded people who can only feel good about THEIR choices by running down choices made by OTHER people. It is what it is.

Not hate … just don’t understand why the guys that have switched over to HD’s don’t utilize the many HD specific boards to choose from. Most if not all of the HD posts on here add no real value to this board. If I sell the VTX and get a Goldwing, I’ll join the Goldwing board, etc.
BigKahuna ..... thanks for having that Avatar you made my morning.

I am an elementary school teacher and the brand bashing reminds me of the behavior problems I deal with on a daily basis.

That might be true.. except that I've got a 92 FLHS with 192k and a 04 1300C with 53k, and I like em both, and I'm not getting rid of either one!

The only derogatory commentary I've received from Harley riders, have been the weekend posers. The guys with perfect leathers and three digit odometer readings, who jumped onto the HD image, rather than really wanting to ride.
Those that do ride, no matter what the make and model, usually have the same "we're all brothers and sisters on two wheels" attitude I do. At least, that's been the luck of my encounters. I went to the Sturgis rally one year with a couple of friends, all of us on metric cruisers. As we encountered more and more HD riders as we ran, every encounter was pleasant and sometimes quite fun. You rode - that's what mattered. By the time we got near town, about 50 miles out or so, that's when the posers would start unloading their bikes from trailers behind their RV's and don their bug free wardrobe, to ride the last bit into town. The two HD riders we had joined up with by that time had a very bad reaction to that!
