Default Rider to Rider Wireless Communications

Can anyone recommend a wireless rider-to-rider communications system? Something that would enable the last rider of a group to contact the leader in case of emergencies, etc?

I went the way of CB. Use a Midland portable with a Ram mount on my bars and an antenna mounted to the back of my passenger backrest. Took some time to work out the bug, but it works great. Then you're compatible with all those Goldwings and Visions out there with CB setups.

I use the Cardo Scala Rider Q2 Multiset (http://www.cardowireless.com/Q2). Inexpensive (comparatively speaking), good range (about a 1/3 of a mile), and good sound. The say it can tune in 6 radio stations, but I've yet to get one to come in clearly. It is Bluetooth compatible and the hands-free phone feature works well.

My wife uses the Scala Rider Q2 with her Scorpion half helmet. Since it has ear pads (with speaker pouches), she has no problems at all. I don't have ear pads on my half helmet and can't use the Q2 with it. I can buy ear pads online, but I'm still looking for the best quality and price.

The absolute best that I have found after spending a lot of coin on several, trying to find the right hook up is the one in the link below;

http://www.sierra-mc.com/products.asp?cat=249

The head sets are available for all types of helmets including the half shell... I wear a half shell and use this one;

IMC-HS-140U-HALF HELMET HEADSET FOR TWO WAY RADIOS

IMC half helmet/helmetless headset and harness for FRS/GMRS/CB radios

I use a Cobra FRS radio and it works great bike to bike with a reach of about two miles... Stay on the lower number channels when riding, because the noise cancel function will cut off the transmit from the road noise. The push to talk button attaches to your handlebar and is easily reached when riding... The cost is lower than many other options and a motorcycle mag actually rated it as a "best buy" over many of the higher priced toys.

+1 We have a few sets in our group of local riders and they work great. Take me a couple tries to ge the speakers positioned right.

I have a set of these and it has a FM tunner and it is also blue tooth. It works driver to passanger and bike to bike. It will work with a 3/4 helment and a full face. Speaker the size of a quater. I can get a whole week's worth of use with 1 charge.

Check these out. These work with any midland family radios. You can get the radios for $25 a set and these headsets run $62 for 2 of them. So for under $90 you have quality bike to bike communications, these have a ptt button that velcrows to the handle bars.

These work with full helmets or half helmets. With full helmets they are great and clear as a bell up to 75mph. With a half helmet they get a little hard to hear above 55mph. Range depends on the radio you buy but even with the cheapo radios 1 mile range is to get. I have had them a few months and works great and cheap too.

I've been using this same setup for 5 years now and have had no problems at all. I even figured out how to get my Garmin Zumo hooked in so I can also hear turn by turn directions
