Default Permanent mount A/F screw adjustment

This is a prototype permanent mount a/f screw adjustment that I'm working on. The screw, washer, spring and grommet are all OME Honda parts. The adjusting knob will be reachable from the rightside under the air box. Someone else had the idea, this is just my design. I hope to get this in my bike this week end.

Well good luck with it ,an excellent idea, now if you could just figure out how to make it push button electric from the bars .

Tip, if you pull it out the left side, under the pet**** somewhere, then you can fiddle without letting go of the throttle.

cool, but really, once you get it right, you really should have to constantly fiddling with the A/F screw

Man, with that kind of extension, you could reach it from the handlebars!

Interesting idea...just make sure you know which knob you're turning (idle adjustment knob is right there, too!)

How am I suppose to adjust my a/f ratio while riding down the road??
I've got enough with trying to text message, change gps coordinates, shave, while attempting not to spill my coffee..........

j/k..... Sounds like a cool idea! Will it need a stop screw of some type so the vibrations don't mess with it?

I REALLY like the idea, but I'm a little biased.

I started it on the left side but ran into some design problem.

Installed it this morning on my bike. Took about an hour. You have to take the seat, tank and air box off. Take the old screw out. Make sure the old spring, washer, and grommet also come out. I shot a little WD-40 in the hole then, put the new spring, washer, and grommet (in that order) on the new screw and install the assblemly in the carb. Turn it slowly and you can feel it stop. Then back it out 2 1/2 turns.

We'll have it on the web site this Saturday. I need time to get production going so it will be a 2 week delivery. I'll do better on delivery after I build up the stock. The best price I can do is 45 bucks. That includes shipping.

Some guys asked "How do I get the old a/f screw out". We looked into this and here ya go.
This tool is designed to remove the old stock a/f screw. It will be supplied in all of the Permanent Mount A/F Screw kits.

Default Quick Adjust A/F screw installed.

Installed the quick adjust a/f screw tonight.
First time I've taken the tank off, too. Not too tough (and I'm a musician).
I hope it will solve my low rpm coughs & sputters. If a/f adjustment doesn't help then I've got to try cleaning the carb for the first time.

After that I spent about an hour putting the reinforcments on my leatherlyke bags. (I've had them on my work bench for over a year.)Wow, was that tough on the fingers.

I'm installing the 4 way flasher & turn signal beeper plus the saddle bag brackets tomorrow. After I clean all those parts that have been hiding for 4 years, I'll put it back together and see how it all works.

I already have the 4" headlight extension so my memphis shade with work with the cobra light bar & the clutch relief extension (if you don't get anything else from Glen - get the clutch relief kit).

Hey, folks, this is good stuff!
Thank you, Glen!

Question: With the knob resting on the crankcase , is there any concern that vibration might allow a "slow turn out" with the spring pressure on the screw ? How hard does the A/F screw turn ?

The spring is tight enough to hold the screw form turning. Also The pic is the first perm mount a/f I made. I have it on my bike. We have shorten it to be off the cranckcase. We will offer 2 lenghts soon. 6-/12" for stock air box bikes and 5-1/2" for without stock air box.

Enjoy your ride.

Default VTX 1300 air fuel adjustment screw

I recently bought the Permanent Mount A/F screw adjustment kit from Glen's VTX Garage for my 1300. Without a doubt, the BEST 40 or so bucks I ever spent...ever! Why?...control.

Doesn't matter if the day is hot or cold, or if I'm riding on the Pacific coast or heading to Whitney Portals at 8000+ feet. I can just reach down and adjust the air fuel at any turnout with only a twist, and the bike will run and pull great for that elevation.

I'm a picky consumer. Glen's has the COMPLETE Kit. They include the infamous Honda "D" tool to remove the old A/F screw, and new washer and O ring to replace the old. If it takes more than an hour to do the conversion, sorry, you're doing something other than what the instructions are telling you to do...

If you don't have this, then you need this. Beats the hell out of me why Honda would install a remote idle speed screw, and not install a remote A/F screw from the factory.

Check out Glen's website for this great item. By the way, I have no connection with Glen's Garage other than being a satisfied repeat customer.

I agree probably the second best purchase for the VTX 1300 after replacing the stock seat. The notch on the knob makes it really easy to adjust your mixture and know where it's set.
