Just bought an 03 1800 vtx it had been sitting for about 4 or 5 years. The motor was seized up and I bought it for $500 it had been kept inside and is a beautiful bike. I got the motor unstuck and it fired up and ran twice but now won't stay running. I've been all over it and the fuel pump won't prime up when you turn on the key and the fi light doesn't light up either. If I touch the brown and black wire on the fuel pump relay it kicks on primes up and shuts off. I read a forum in here of someone else who was having this problem but he never finished the story. Someone named hans was helping him out and really seemed to know what he was talking about. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Brown/Black wire is the trigger from the ECM. NEVER put direct +12v on that wire..
IF the ECM driver transistor is shot there is another fix...You can put a Ground on it and it should continue to run if Bl/W is hot.
The two Black/White wires are +12v from the engine stop relay. That Feeds Ign coils, injectors and the ECM.
If you touch the Brown to the Bl/W the FP should run until you turn off Ign switch or hit kill switch..
More stuff in the 1800 Step by Step board.
