Hello Doug, welcome to the VTXOA! Most of the VTX riders put 38 - 40 PSI in the tires. Better handling and tire mileage.
I use the "ckoke" aka Starter Enrichment valve all the time at cold start. When it is running I bump doen a bit, then ride. At the 3rd or 4th gear I close close. Owner's manual has info. Choke does not provide a high idle when cold and closed.
