As a rider that completed the "mere" 1000 mile ride, this looks incredible. Over 13000 miles in 11 days. Holy crap!

What a read, those reports they are putting in are something else. Lee, your bike would work for this, but the X would not be the right bike for the job.

Pretty amazing stuff, thanks for the post!

Looks like they are passing by us right about now if they were in Montana yesterday.

Definitely a great read.

When I "find the time" (famous saying)...I would love to try an IBR of some sort. Be it 1000 or whatever...

2003 VTX1300s (Now an R) - 52k miles and counting....

I have followed this rally from before the start. I have quiet ambitions of trying to get in the 2013 IBR. I am entered in the Minnesota 1000 rally July 29-31. It is a 24 hour rally with requirements similar to the IBR. Several of the current IBR competitors are former finishers of the MN1000 and will be in it this year also. You can read about it here http://www.teamstrange.com/2011/mn1k/

Wish me luck! Pretty sure I will be posting a spot link if anyone wants to follow along.

The part about the tech inspections ensuring that no bike exceeds 11 gallons of fuel on board is pretty cool. That is setting up for some serious range! Talk abbout never getting off the bike. Do these guys wear catheters to pee with too? There are a number of couples doing the rally, as individual bikes or passengers too. Now thats love!

You gonna get an aux tank on your Bimmer Rick?

Lots of Goldwings or Bimmers. I think I see just one Harley on the list, no VTX's. They would have to stop 130 times for gas!

Travis,
The aux fuel cells aren't necessarily to increase riding time as much as it is not to worry where to buy fuel next. The time spent riding at all different hours doesn't allow one to count on an open gas station. I don't think I'll be adding a fuel cell yet. I have a fuel range of about 270-280 miles. I have ridden tank to tank and that is a long time in the saddle.

Thats cool Rick...... Keep us posted on what you may do. I really don't know if I could ride something like this....

When June and I or just myself travel all we have is a destination, no reservations, no detailed route, we just free style it. End up were ever for the night. Until we reach our end goal. It works for us.

The though of all the planning would be tough for me.

Good luck and keep us posted.

A couple Harley's have quit the race, just can't keep up with the pace.

A couple crashes, nothing severe.

The miles these guys are doing is legendary. Beyond belief. Simply incredible.

The logs are a pleasure to read.
