Burning!

Rode today in stop and go traffic. It was 95 degrees. It got hot in traffic - real hot. When I got home finally, I looked and I have first degree burns on my leg from the motor heat during the traffic.

Anyone have any ideas how to cool down/protect my leg better? The obvious one is avoid traffic on hot days.... but since that isn't always an option I am open to other suggestions.

Maybe you could move to somewhere cooler ,, like maybe Denver or Chicago. O ha, nevermind. How about visit somewhere that's 105,,110, when you go back home it'll feel cooler. Not really, nope sorry, it's hot, other than riding non stop, I wish I knew how to make it not feel so hot.

Something like this:

Shouldn't be too hard to fabricate or mod for most any bike.

its the V&H Big shots. Shields are fineas far as I can tell. It literally only happened in the stop and go traffic during the extremely high heat. The bike itself is fine - keeps cool and has no issues. That is the first time it ever happened on that bike as well. Lots of idle traffic time in the past including sturgis and other places where it can be a long wait.

Maybe the fairing is doing something? It just seems odd that my inner right thigh would burn like that.

Have a seamstress sew a part of an ironing board cover on the outside of your riding pants. Have an electrician friend wire a computer fan in an appropriate location for more air movement. Just thinking aloud here.

No problem with either VTX, but my 2013 M109R with stock exhaust got my right calf a bit toasty yesterday. I was wearing shorts, which is often part of my hot weather riding gear. Once up to highway speed it wasn't a problem.
