I live in Long Island NY, and do a trip to Maine every year. I have a trailer just for this trip (but benefit from owning it the rest of the year), because after riding 7-8 hours, it is dangerous to then deal with 3 hours of traffic getting through NYC to get home.
I trailer to lower upstate NY (my friends house) on the way up, and trailer from his house on the way back. To me, the most dangerous part of riding is when you are tired, and have to deal with cagers in traffic, especially NYC traffic...
I will never knock anyone who trailers/loads their bike... I have a trailer rather than put the bike in the bed of my pickup because personally I think loading/unloading a bike in a pickup is too dangerous.
