Trouble starting; fuel injectors, fuel filter, or fuel pump?
Recently bought a 2007 vtx 1800R. It's got about 14k miles. I bought it in Dallas, and before I rode it to San Antonio (5hr ride not including traffic and stops) I did some upkeep. Changed out the spark plugs (which looked like they hadn't ever been changed), air filter (which was pretty filthy), cleaned out the throttle body, sprayed B12 cleaner into throttle body while the bike was running, and ran a can of Royal Purple fuel cleaner over the course of filling a few tanks.
I was planning on changing out the fuel filter now that I'm back home, but I can't find anyone that sells them without the pump.
*So that's the first problem. Anyone have any info on where I can buy just the filter?
The other is that it hesitates starting, and at times won't start at all at times till I spray throttle body cleaner into it. Do you guys think this will be resolved once I replace the filter, or do I need to plan on cleaning the fuel injectors as well? If so, I haven't seen any good info on how to do the job on this bike. I also have a 04 vtx 1300c, and I've cleaned out the carburetor after it sat a good 8 momths while I was out of town for work. That came out well. But now I need to become more familiar on the process for a fuel injected system.
