Unless it was my imagination, when I first changed to synthetic oil in my 02 VTX, 50,000 miles ago, I immediately noticed that the "clunking" sound/feeling when shifting, was gone. The shifting became smoother. I always use Amsoil synthetic motorcycle oil.

That was not imagination. Oil makes a big difference in feel and sound of shifting.

That works!

Reading all the labels on the different oils is just silly. Just take the top three recommendations on this site and pick one. Members here have put a ****-load of miles on their bikes and I would think they kinda know what they are talking about.

If you are wanting to save money, just skip a Honda tattoo or two.

I've been using Castrol full synthetic for several years because (if I keep my eyes open) I can get it for $6 a quart. Seems to work fine.

I'm changing to Rotella T6 once my last quart of Castrol is gone because it's ALWAYS $6 a quart...Or $23ish a gallon.
