VTX1800c auxiliary gas tank

Has anyone mounted an auxiliary to a C model where the fuel pump is inside the tank. Or other ideas that would help. Sometimes being able to go farther between fill ups would be nice. Kind of a pain when riding with a group and we have to plan gas stops for me when all the others could go 30 to 40 miles farther before stops.

Thanks in advance.

spare tank.. many have done...

but your case.. a second fuel injection pump... and a second fuel tank...

my opinion.. if they are your friends... they would stop 30 miles early...

The Harley guys here in TEXAS does... they have tourers.... and my VTX with external fuel pump...

they can do 200 easy.. me 170-180 MAX..

side note.. Bob has a 1600 V-Star V-Twin carburetor.. he does the same distance and mpg as I...

Can Am's do even better... 230 or so...

I understand... You do NOT want to ask.. but what are the choices.

get a 2005 or later fuel tank... install the 2005 and up fuel pumps, wires, hoses... etc.

that will not be cheap. for 30 more miles.

My rule is stop every 100 miles or so to stretch and PEE!!! Sucks to get old.

I'm gonna hit the highway like a battering ram,
on a silver-black PHANTOM bike!

Stoney - the link TennX provided was for a 2002 1800 R with pump in the tank.
The link LasPulgas provided was for a 1800 C http://www.californiavtxriders.com/p...p?f=26&t=31509
02-03 1800 R pump in tank.

page 2 gets interesting---LasPulgas kinked a vent hose, it collapsed the tank...

I got off cheap & found a brand new tank in my color on ebay for only $500.

I'll be keeping my auxiliary tank and using it but I'll be plumbing it in thru a bung like ShowTime56 did this time. **** me!

ShowTime65 also did a aux fuel tank..

Lowering fuel sensor and getting more fuel from bottom of tank.

I do too. My low-fuel light comes on at 90 miles or so. That's an hour of riding.

I stop when I feel like it. I don't ride with groups anymore. Too many differences of opinions and mine is the only good one. I am down to one or two guys that will ride with me. I am old and gripey. But I love my Honda!
