Starter Shot?

Ok I'm not that technically minded but can do some minor things on my bike. (2005 VTX 1800 Neo)
I went to start it last week and the battery was dead, tested it at the local auto parts shop and it indeed is done.
So I buy another Yuasa battery, it's fully charged, put it into my bike, and other than lights coming on, the bike doesn't start, nothing turns over; no "Clicking soound", check to make sure kill switch is not engaged, have already cleaned the starter button contacts, but nothing.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Did you tighten both + and - connections to the battery with a wrench?

Does any thing else come on? Odometer, dash LEDs, turn indicators, break light, etc.

I'm gonna hit the highway like a battering ram, on a silver-black PHANTOM bike!

Yeah sorry should have said that first. Tightened battery connections with a wrench, dash lights, odometer, headlight, tail light, etc all come on. I checked what I think are all the fuses; the 2 under the left cover (one spare) and the bunch under the right cover.

Neutral switch light?

Verify in NEUTRAL.....

REMOVE LEFT SIDE COVER...

PLACE A SCREWDRIVER ACROSS
THE STUDS THAT HAVE THE STARTER
MOTOR AND BATTERY CABLES.

EXPECT ARCS AND SPARKS AND ENGINE
CRANKING.

Remove and inspect push on wire terminals on the Starter Relay, then reinstall..

Yikes!! Please let us know what that sets you back in parts and labor. I've been reading the threads about using a modified Ford solenoid with much interest. It would be interesting to compare that solution to the route you are taking.

Good luck on a healthy bike real soon.

SWITCH ASSY., STARTER MAGNETIC 35850-ZJ1-811 In Stock $67.18 $47.26
I suspect $67 for the relay and the going rate for service...

Suzuki Starter relay that looks identical to VTX starter relay from $7 to $17 on the internet.
