Review: Saddlemen Solo Seat - Disappointed

If this is the wrong board, please tell me where it goes and I'll move it there.

I am 5'4" and 180 lbs. I've got to sit as low as I can. I also have two Corbin two up seats. I've wanted a solo for some time... and it is time. That said...

Of all the solo seats available right now, this one was the only one I felt I would be happy with. And I am... for the most part. That is, it feels better than any other seat I've ever sat on and I feel the lower back support. And I'm really liking the new look. Buuuuut...

The fitment could be better. See the pics. The 'over the gas tank' view shows a wide gap. I'm worried that during a rain, there's going to be a waterfall flowing under the seat and directly onto the electronics!
What can't be shown is the front of the seat directly behind the gas tank moves almost an inch when pressed. Yes, the seat lip (flange?) is in the gas tank catch under the tank. I know I'm not riding on that part, but still! And that upwards flair in the back? "Oh, no, please don't look at that!"

Good price for this seat... probably because it's made to 'sort of' fit several makes and model. (?)

About that potential waterfall... is that a legit concern???

Thanks for reading and your comments.

I had a saddle man solo on my 1300 perfect fitment and comfort...only reason I traded up to ultimate was for backrest....I’m not that familiar with 1800...but to a layman that does not look like the right seat....good luck

The way the seat attaches to the rails is fairly unique to the 1800C I think. I don't know it would fit more than one model. The back of it looks like a compromise to be able to add a pillion or a back rest, or both. That doesn't look that great IMO. I don't think the "waterfall" is an issue you will need to worry about.

Thanks for posting this. If it fits your butt, than be comfortable and ride, but I think you are bang on with the fit concerns. Maybe send your photos to Saddleman and see what they have to say. They may want to make it right ... or you might just get a bunch of "that's the way they all are" or something like that. Either way, nothing to lose.

They've asked me for the seat's part number. I included these additional pictures in my reply.
Yes, it's getting washed this weekend. Can't wait any longer. If Saddlemen wants the seat back, oh well.

I wonder if they sent you one for a 1300C? The 1800C and 1300C rear fenders/fender rails are just about identical, so in theory, it could mount to the 1800.

You are right, this post doesn't need much answers. But sitting in the sun with my laptop and a Havana-cola I couldn't resist
