Question 2003 convert to external fuel pump?

Can I convert my 03 to the external fuel pump from the later model?

I have a guy local that has the tank from an 07 and I want to use that but there not set up for an internal pump.

The price on the tank is really good.

It's from an R model and I am working on converting my C to a custom bagger and want to use the larger R model tank in the build since I am relocating the Speedometer to a fairing mount to get it off the bars and the R tank holds more fuel and looks better to me.

Tlynn had done some mods. He used an external FP(not in a canister).
He had many pix at one time.

X'n and I did an in depth write-up years ago. It appears to have disappeared. I had included all the part #s and how to do it. It was easy. Maybe you can search me or X'n and find it
